I start it with the choke on.
Heads to 4k odd revs, stays there for a few seconds then falls off ____________________ Not here... |

Just start it and as the revs start to drop give it a rev to clear it out. Rev it for a few seconds (not too much just flick the throttle a bit) and then see if it idles. The nsr is supposed to rev up to 4000rpm then drop back down and idle with the choke on, that is quite normal. ____________________ Current bike: VTR1000F Firestorm. The NSR is known to be very easy to flood. As you start it, give it a little choke (hold it open slightly with your hand). Once it's started, release the choke, listen to the revs, and keep opening the choke slightly and closing it again until the bike ticks over on its own.
Hope this helps

You shouldn't have to fuss with the choke so much though. You should open it and leave it open until the bike has warmed a bit. Then close it off when the bike will run without it. It's important to flick the throttle now and then to get it ready to ride. ____________________ Current bike: VTR1000F Firestorm.
