Taken from MCN:

MCN is preparing to challenge the Government's ruling that all speed cameras are in the right places.

A Government review released this week has concluded cameras are all in the right places and that NONE should be removed. The report is based on the findings of Safety Camera Partnerships – the people who get the money from camera fines to fund more 'safety cameras'.

The review came after complaints that cameras have become more about raising money than saving lives.

MCN believes it is perfectly possible to make roads safer without adding a revenue-generating camera. And we think claims that cameras have cut accident rates fail to take into account other road-calming measures added at the same time. We intend to challenge Safety Camera Partnerships on a camera-by-camera basis soon. Follow the progress of our Back Off Biking campaign in MCN every week.
