Hello everyone, just about to change the oil in my 03 Suzuki VL125, a V twin, 4 stroke engine and wondering if I can use API SL instead of the API SG the manual asks for?

Both oils are the same SAE10W-40, but the SL is £3 for 2 litres, the SG is £7 for 1litre >_>

Ideas?

SL has superseded SG so will be safe to use.

Yeh I saw the same page as well, but apparently SL has friction reducers which aren't good if your bike has a wet cluth (which mine does)...Seeing if anyone has any in life experience. Worst comes worst, I have to drain th £3 oil and put in the expensive stuff. Shouldnt blow up my engine right? Right?!

I don't think all SL oils have friction modifiers in them. I've got some in my bike now, and used it on plenty of other bikes, with no problems at all.
