Not sure about anyone else but today was the perfect biking weather.

Blue skies, no wind, warm sun yet cold air. Just how I like it.

Small bimble along some little single track lanes, up in the moors, along the green pastures of valleys, small green lane. Cows all over the road. Gates to stop and open. Clear views of the cloudless summits in the lakes, Bowland fells behind me, Yorkshire dales to the east, the Howgills to the North east, views out across Morecambe bay to the west.

Such perfect weather for that ride, absolutely awesome and my best ride of the year by far Thumbs Up

I've only been for one ride that wasn't a commute or general boring day to day stuff this year.

So it'll have to be that one.

I had a blast around the brecon beacons, was a nice sunny ride, but it was ages ago Crying or Very sad .

I don't get out much.

Went out at 5:30am in July.

Sunny morning, no traffic at all. Glorious.

Good thread. Thumbs Up

Although getting rid of the rear chicken strips on the ducati was a minor milestone, the best actual ride would've been pottering down a disused railway line on my CB250RS...It was probably illegal Rolling Eyes but at 7am on a Wednesday morning who gives a flying eff.

Going about 10mph and following a kingfisher as he played 1-step-ahead. Swallows flying straight at me then zipping past my shoulders.
I went up a dirt ramp then parked up for a cup of tea and a slice of my nan's cake.
All was well with the world.

[edit]
The little BCF rideouts have been good/interesting. Thumbs Up

Not done as much riding this year, but the rides i have done have got progressively better but most of it is to do with the bike.

It started well when I rebuilt my front calipers and cleaned them up, much less pulling on the front wheel, that helped.

Then it got better when I got new fork stantions and stopped the leaky forks, that helped.

Then I upped the preload on the front and back of the bike, that dramatically helped.

Then i changed tyres from BT016s to Pirelli Rosso Corsa 2s, then the bike is pretty much how I want it and handles perfect at slow or high speed.

I reckon the best ride was once i'd worn the Pirellis in. I dotted from Bexhill to Rye over to Lydd, back through Peasmarsh, back upto Battle via Udimere road, then upto Robertsbridge then out to near the A22 then back via Ninfield.

I'm going to use the word because it's deserving but it was an epic ride. Kinda the reward from what I wanted to get out of the bike after doing various bits of work on it.

Mine was just the other day. Took the A23 from Brighton and joined the A272 and followed that all the way to Petersfeild. Got stuck behind a caravan which wasnt fun. I didnt want to take silly risks as I was 2 up with the nephew on the back but we did manage to get airborne once over a bridge. Great fun.

Whilst not on two wheels, mine was a trip in a glider off Sutton Bank in North Yorkshire. Biggles let me take the controls for a bit and I did some 360's, a dive and a climbing stall - I thought bikes were sensitive to input - gliders are out of this world!!!!

Best ride this year had to be (strangely enough) from my house to Tesco.

Following my brother on his GS500E at 1:30AM. The roads were EMPTY, many of which were pitch black; nothing but you, the headlights and the dash-lights.
Cool night air, heavy in oxygen with the lack of sun to heat it;

Love night riding. Specially with my bro.
The 2-way radios were pretty cool, too.

Other than that was the windy, pitch-black roads from Ottery St Mary back to mine. Hilarious fun at 60Mph+ with windy roads that stretch only as far as your main beam can.

Around June time I borrowed a mate's '94 Fireblade to go to work on a Sunday whilst he did some work on my Bandit.

I got up at 5am and did 250 miles around Kent / Sussex / Surrey lanes on my way to work. My normal boring commute is 38 miles. It was a fantastic ride and even though I was wearing jeans and taking extra care not to bin it the whole ride was a soul filling experience. For some reason hardly anyone was on the roads that I chose and the rain that was forecast for later in the day held off.

Best ride was when I got the cbt finished, other than that not finding good routes have taken up most of my time Crying or Very sad

Plan to do the route down to Llanfairpwll there is a beautiful road that goes straight down the coast (A55) or Llandudno up to the Great Orme when i'm more experienced Cool

I've had two 'best rides' this year, for different reasons.

The first was taking a day off work and fucking off to Aberystwyth for some lunch, from Worcester the A44 is a road that just keeps on getting better. Particularly fun was chasing down a Mille and an GSXR750 SRAD, the lads on them were quite surprised to have a Hornet not too far off the pace. Had a nice natter with them over my fish and chips too, ace. Highlight was the 10 miles or so of brilliant mountainside stuff where I got my knee down because I was actually going fairly quickly*, not because I was trying to around a roundabout. That felt good.

The other was coming home from Brecon, in the morning to be home in time for work after seeing the current, potential Mrs Slacker that weekend. Leaving at 6am, I got back to Worcester in just over an hour which I am quite proud of. I saw one truck until I got to Hereford; I can only assume the Welsh farmers don't start shagging their sheep that early, or more likely, they were already up and at it for some time.

*I use the term loosely. Its all relative Cool

Today was cool, had no chores to do at home, missus had gone to work, so rode to Willingham Woods, had 10 minutes there, then on to Cadwell Park for an hour, watching the track day riders, then a blast home when I got a call from the missus saying she was finishing early. Bangers and mash and gravy for tea. Yummikins. Weather was awesome! I'm the same as DonnyBrago, it's maily commuting for me, which can still be excellent!

Hmmm had quite a few since owning the Hornet (mainly because it didn't end with me pushing it home Laughing )

The other day was pretty good, went to some roads I haven't been for a while. Everything went well, my lines were perfect and I was getting quicker each time around, had a couple of awesome downshifts too Cool

Lands end to John o'groats, 3 of us.

It rained a good percentage of the way but was a mega ride out with a couple of mates and felt like a minor achievement
