Evening all,

I am in the market for a little 125 scooter, I plan to do the knowledge on the bike I buy...

I quite like the Honda PCX but is it too large for city driving?

I would like some suggestions on what you think would be a good first bike and for the knowledge... I am a complete noob, so after your advice...

Many thanks in advance!

I've had a quick go on a PCX and it was pretty nice, looks cool in white and black as well.
They have stop/start technology which I was keen to try out but as I rode it in rural Norfolk it really was pretty pointless as they claim it does 130mpg anyway. Stop/start might be worthwhile in London though. Its pretty seamless and instant when it starts back up.
Ride is nice I've never rode a full size maxi scooter but the PCX is sort of half way between a normal scooter like my Vespa and a maxi. It has 14" wheels which felt a lot more stable then the 10" ones on the Vespa.
From the front the PCX looks like a big touring bike and other bikers tend to nod at you which doesn't normally happen on a scooter.
I personally wouldn't spend 2.5k on one as I don't do 2.5k worth of scooter riding, but if I didn't have my Vespa was after a newish 125 scooter it would probably be the one I'd go for. Not as much character as my Vespa PX but it is probably better in every other area.

I ride a Yamaha Vity, cheap to buy, easy to ride and reliable. The dealer told me he sells loads to knowledge geezers. I totally recommend it.

basically anything piaggio make,
vespa's are a good choice, metal body work so if you take a fall there is the chance you can just hammer the dents out, and they aint the most sporty scoot so the kids are less interested in nicking them

ps avoid cheap Chinese knocks off's

Buy my Honda Cub 90, ask around in cabbie/knowledge circles it is the ideal knowledge bike, all you would need to do is fit one of those clipboards for your routes, cheap as chips to run, Taxed and Mot for 11 months.

PM me if interested.

/shameless advertising.
