Anyone been watching BBC 2's World's Most Dangerous Roads?

Not sure I'd have walked under a landslide that's still happening. Respect to Rhod Gilbert and Greg Davies.

I watched it on iPlayer lastnight. I think it's alright, nothing really special though. Lastnights episode (or whenever it was first out) was a bit anti climatic I thought although to be fair you wouldn't have caught me driving over an active landslide; fuck that!

As long as the moving ground is falling over a lip which shelters you from the stuff (like walking behind a waterfall) the i dont see the danger? Give me a big car, like the red warzone hummer Richard Hammond tested in Top Gear and I'd do it. Cool

Missed last nights episode, but I did enjoy the ice road episode. I will watch it later in the week on Iplayer.

Couldn't see shelter for them. Big rocks were falling.

You are braver than me!

I saw last nights and half the time didn't see the need for all the panic in what passes for normal driving there.

The landslide was another matter, it was interesting how the locals just sat in their shed-thing watching it creeping slowly towards them.
With recent landslides every few yards you had to wonder if there was an underlying cause such as deforestation making things much worse now than when the route was first built.

In Europe or the US they'd have those gallery things so the continual slides could go over the top then eventually it would stabilise itself.
By continually bulldozing the debris without stabilising the problem area, it just happens again and again.

The family that had stopped on that blind bend for a picnic was the best bit! Laughing

I had to laugh at driving the wrong way down a one way street and not caring, definitely an interesting watch even if it was a little anti-climatic.

Well done to both of them Smile

looked like more of a land trickle than a proper slide, the way they were reacting you'd have thought it was fast flowing lava Laughing

I took this yesterday. Vietnamese road building... not so good.

Oh, and talking of blind bends. The trucks/buses/4x4s love to overtake each other round bends. That gets fun on a bike with drum brakes. You are just expected to get out of the way, sharpish.

That kind of behaviour makes me sad on roads like this... in the rain.

Oh, and the unwritten rule of Vietnam; If a truck clips you off your bike, it will try to reverse over you. Cheaper insurance claim Laughing

There are also no cats eyes, and in driving rain, at night, on flooded roads... the fuckers will still over take each other (with full beams on) and expect you to get out of the way.

Vietnam: would be lovely if it weren't for the Vietnamese Laughing
