A mate is also looking to start riding and likes the look of a TZR125RR, however he has as much knowledge of bikes as me (nothing Embarassed )
Anybody know anything about these bikes? What are they like, how easily are they de-restricted etc?

Thanks in advance.

Hi

That is the Italian market TZR125, built in Italy by the Italian Yamaha importer. The engine is a Yamaha design built by Minarelli, Paoli forks and Brembo brakes.

They are meant to be nice bikes but vibrate quite a lot.

Most will have a 32mm carb, but I think some came with a 28mm carb.

Italian market bikes of that age were full power and the TZR125RR was never imported to the UK so the bike will not have originally been restricted. If it is restricted then it will be a bodge done by someone in the UK.

All the best

Keith

Thats a great help thanks. The bikes we saw were advertised as 'full power', which obviously implies that some are restricted.. hence my question.
Anybody ridden one?

Humm no doubt that the Italian built TZR's were faster, but the ones ive seen have always looked ropey, and knackered. I do really like the later 94-96 Japanese TZR125R's though, as they are possibly the best looking jap 125 ever built, but they are very few and far between.
