Hi all
on my Honda cg 125 when slowing down with gears say I’m in 3rd them go down to 2nd when I slowly let out my clutch I get like a fast juddering noise (cant explain the noise) but if I blip the throttle before letting the clutch out it dose not happen it seams to do it more when cold
the chain tension is good and it has new sprockets on and lube well its like its coming from the clutch??????
thanks john

Yup; could be over braking your rear wheel, not making a smooth enough change; could be suspension units, lack of damping would let the spring slap the wheel down hard as you take weight off it; then 'bounce' as the wheel 'skids'; sproket dampers, or cush drive could also be loading unloading causing judder, when you shift gear, and if the sprokets have just been changed that particular one would be number one on my list of things to check. Has sproket bolts been done up properly? Were tab washers used correctly? Have they come loose? Was sprocket aligned properly; sometimes on small hondas they have a circlup around centre boss; and the bolts are only holding 'pegs' loosely into sproket damper rubbers.... if they are worn, play = judder.
Or combination (likely) of all three. Cg is not renouned for being well damped, and shocks are often hard worked and sorely neglected, as are sproket damper bushes and pegs, and if somje-one has forgotten the sproket circlip at some time..... it will slap and judder like buggery, and make itself worse and worse.... especially with learners working it hard, making more changes than they really need, as clumsily as they will..... ____________________ My Webby'Tef's-tQ, loads of stuff about my bikes, my Land-Rovers, and the stuff I do with them!

thanks for the replys all
i sounds like the chain is slipping over the sprocket type of noise.
and it has done it when at a stand still when the clutch is not pulled in far so in sted of sliping it was making this noise if that helps ____________________ Bendy "Flip front. I can filter down the M4 while shoving a Twix in my face."

If its rattling at stand still, could be the friction plates are on the way out, but if that for worn, usually pressure on the plates would see the cluytch slipping under load..
HOW2: Overhaul Clutch (Small Honda's +)
More likely, that it would be sloppy selector mech & its the DOG clutched between the gears rattling in a 'partial engagement'...
THAT is a complete tear-down split the crank cases job, inspecting the selector drum; selector forks and the actual gears themselves.
THOUGH if you take the primary drive off to inspect / overhaul clutch basket. may find something 'obviouse' like bent selector ratchet not shifting the selector drum full travel, giving similar effect, of partial gear engagement. ____________________ My Webby'Tef's-tQ, loads of stuff about my bikes, my Land-Rovers, and the stuff I do with them!
