Ok, for those that don't know this....

As of the 1/3/04 all duplicate log books (V5) are subject to a fee of £19.00.

So, if you have lost it, or it's damaged, you got to send in £19.00 to get a new one.

If you are buying a new bike / car etc, this fee does not apply.

If you have purchased a 2nd hand bike / car etc, again, the fee does not apply.

So, just remember not to wash / deface or loose the V5, it will cost you £19.00 to get a new one.

Bugger. Cannot find the log books for a couple of the bikes. Never worried before as it will be a while before they are back on the road.

All the best

Keith

Ooooh, they're all nice and colourful! WOW!

Thanks for that information Ian. Does anyone know about the time scale for replacing the old style log books, as in, how long these will remain valid? I'm assuming there is some kind of "phase out plan"? Or are they to be valid indefinately in the same manner new-style driving licenses have been introduced?

I had a new V5 come through the other day when re registering my bike in my name and i think that there crap! They seem to be more of a leaflet that you'd pick up in the post office than a important document in my opinion

Doubt it, I assume they will send you a new one for free if you must change.
