hey all, in my previous post i mentioned i bought a zzr600 G reg, been stood for some time, but started up...aparently...

anyway i decided to clean the carbs, when i was releasing them from the engune and turned them upside down, all this brown, kinda like a light gravy colour poured out from the carbs,,, is that shitty fuel? before i did that i emptied the fuel tank, and re filled with clean fuel, so dont understand where the brown fluid come from, but deffo from the carbs, any help would be great

Presume you took off a coolant pipe as coolant runs around carbs to warm them i think?, i put bets on it being coolant

hi, yes i did take off the coolant pipe, the liquid was kinda green colour, the brownish fluid was deffo carbs.

Yeah, that will be old fuel. If you haven't already i would suggest taking the float bowls off and using carb cleaner giving everything a damn good clean. That old fuel can leave a sort of varnish over everything and it really need cleaning off. If you have taken the carbs off make sure you balance them after.

ok brill, i was worried it was oil or something, stinks of fuel lol, i am giving to a friend to clean, as i bit scared to take apart,

once they are cleaned and put back on bike, do i need to prime the carbs at all to get the fuel going in?

May be worth looking at new needles, seats (if the seats are removable) and a look at the gaskets as these can rot in old fuel. Worth doing before you start to use the bike regularly.
