Sold my bike on ebay on Sunday. The guy rang me up and said he'd come Monday. He did sound a bit odd, but just thought he was a bit slow. Anyhow, he rang to say he couldn't make it Monday afternoon, and arranged to come today. He rang this morning, said he'd be here at 12ish, I left it till 13:30 then sent him a text. Next thing I get a phone call from his carer, saying he doesn't know anything about bikes, and could he back out of the sale.

So, OK, he must be a bit dim, but the only way to get my seler's fees back is to report him. It's not the £16, but the irritation, plus other people need to know. What do you guys think?

Meh its often children......imature people* using it..... who think its fun or don't understand the repercussions of their actions...

Meh what we need is like with unenforcable parking tickets, i.e. somebody to take these people to the cleaners at the small claims court or something. Such that wasters are prewarned that their actions have consequences!

You allowing him to back out, makes them Laughing , go on ebay or whatever and then do it again.

*There are a great great number of people out there who physically may well be 18+ but mentally seem to be about 10 years old. Like idiots who let their children go online unsupervised and don't know what to do about it

As it turned out, you didn't. Sorry, but that's the cost of doing business there: it only takes one drunkard, fantasist or mong to spazz up an auction for everyone else. It's got worse since they stopped seller feedback - now the spackers can just run riot.

Personally I'd only ever use a Classified ad, and the bike isn't sold until the cash is in my hand.

Report him. If he's considered compos mentis enough* to set up an eBay account by his carers then he should be considered capable of being held accountable for his actions.

*Apologies for the slightly bastardised Latin-English grammar.
