It never ceases to amaze me how sheep-like and unaware most "people" are. We know what car drivers are like, but you get the same with people are, especially in big supermarkets, completely oblivious to everything and everyone around them. I don't know if it's because I ride, but I find myself doing lifesavers whenever I move in a supermarket. It's the only way to avoid getting wiped out by blind, trolley wielding, blue-rinse pensioners.

I remember someone saying they filter when walking, but anyone else do over the shoulder checks to avoid the blinkered, bewildered and unaware?

Yes to doing lifesavers when walking and pushing trollies round.

Have to admit supermarkets are the worst. Marketing/store designs do a good job of switching people's consciousness off. I was once in a Sainsbury's local and a pot of fresh soup had fallen on the floor and made a mess. After nearly stepping on it, I warn the person behind me, I tell her pretty clearly and straight at her face, yet she didn't seem to realise I had said anything and then stood in the soup, still didn't realise and walked around the shop trailing it around. I warned another person and the same thing happened! Gave up at the point and went to pay for my stuff.

Always..and it pisses me off when other people dont and walk right into you.

Got moany at the other half the other day telling her I dont want her to get a car, it could be because im too cautious and look around me.. but she literally walked into an old age pensioner instead of looking before she turned.

I lol'd but still.. unsure how normal people cope Laughing

When practicing for my tests, I would find myself doing lifesavers in every day situations. It's funny Smile

My generation had the green cross code drummed into us in primary school, lifesavers are second nature.

The blue rinse brigade are the worst for mangling someone else ankle Evil or Very Mad . With thier shopping trolleys

After being hit in the ankle for a second time by a grumpy OAP , I actually told him in no uncertain terms to "pack it in or else"
I was very sad I had to resort to that but there you go Sad

I've started doing shoulder checks on a bus apparently this is what I was told anyway. Got to say weird feeling but even when walking around makes you hell of alot more aware.

I wouldn't say this is down to riding bikes. I look where I'm going when I walk, sure. But I'm pretty sure I was doing this before passing DAS Laughing

I have to say I've been known to deliberately not move out of someones way when I've seen them coming. I find this particularly amusing with people who can't/won't control their kids. Rather amusing to see the looks they give you when their ten year old bounces off your legs.

Don't get me started on groups of people who take up and entire path width and expect you to move for them. I've taken to walking straight at them and making the ignorant bastards move...

Some people seem to blatantly just not look where they are going then give you cheek because they walked into YOU. It's those people I worry about when riding if they still haven't figured out walking after 20 + years.

Damn right. I was in the dairy aisle today, and have you see the price of butter these days?

Er, yes, I do lifesavers on foot. I honestly believe that if every driver did a CBT, the rate of road traffic accidents would plummet.

Lifesavers, yes! I find myself doing mirror checks, and when I remember they're not they're its another life saver lol.

If I see someone about to walk into me I tense up, brace for impact just to make it feel like they've hit something harder than a person because... Well, they should have looked!

I swung my bag of shopping into someone's legs who cut in, and walked immediately in front of me in Tesco's earlier. I hate people who don't look, they deserve to get knee-capped. Evil or Very Mad

We've been saying this for years...well words to effect. All road users who apply for provisional should by law use a 50cc scooter/moped/bike for at least one year.

I work in a supermarket... the amount of times this happens is un-fecking believable!!

I hate people that bimble along walking slowly blocking the whole path so noone can cross (usually walk in bimble-groups) And people that walk along looking in the opposite direction and walk into you.

Another type of person i hate is the kind that while looking at a product in the supermarket, block the rest of the isle by putting their trolley right across it! Shocked Or while your working your cage, putting products out, will block you from getting back to it, so you have to stand there while they look at something for absolute ages!

It gets especially hairy when your pulling along a fooking heavy cage loaded to the brim with cans of baked beans or milk etc.. because when you get one of these people not looking where they're going, you usually smash into them with the full force of your 10 ton cage (at least i wish i could!) That would bludy well make them notice! Rolling Eyes

I'm the one covering twice the distance at twice the speed and nab the item off the shelf from under you.
Scan ahead..suss the queues..suss the tillers....Go for tasty blonde who looks slow but has 1 button undone that shows off her ample cleaveage and pretty bra? Or go for the thin hag...fast efficient and knows the price of Lemon Drizzle cake.

I choose Hag. Thumbs Up

That's how 'ardcore i am.

You disgust me Pat. I always go for the Muslim girl with fantastic eyes and brothers with sharp knives. What I hate is old people in supermarkets at times when people with jobs can get there. The coffin dodgers have all week between 9 and 4 to get in each other's way so why are they in ASDA at 11.00 on a Saturday morning?

Asda in Cwmbran, I advise on one ever go there, you just can't use enough life savers and it is, not just because it is the hell hole that is an Asda store full of scummy retards, but because it is an Asda full of overweight ugly gammon slipping scummy retards of the highest order.

Sometimes I have no choice and have to go in there, usually involves me shouting at said fatty cock trumpets.
Walking down an aisle, fatty is in the middle of the aisle, leaning to pick up a tin of something to make them even fatter, and as they do, their trolley arcs out and blocks the whole aisle off, now it is bad enough their fat blocks up one half of the aisle and their trolley the other half, so you move their trolley out of your way and they give you that glare as there is now a disturbance in their orbit, they are wondering why the tides are funny around their minge, all you say is

"if you looked you would have seen me behind, instead your fatness has made you lose all self awareness, and block the whole fucking aisle for other shoppers, so excuse me whilst I move your inconsiderately place trolley out of the way, so I can get out to this fatty hell hole that is Cwmbran" *walk of muttering about horrible fat people in Cwmbran*

Or the ones that just stop in front of you, whilst you are power shopping, and you walk into them, they turn around as if to say "aw hell naw, I know you didn't just walk into me"

"Yes, I hit you, but I didn't walk into you, you just fucking stopped and your fat body works like a pendulum, it kept on going then came back and hit me, Newtowns third law of motion, when the fat goes forward it has to come back, so honestly you should be apologising to me for hitting me with your fatness and not looking where the fuck you are going"

In towns, well I try to avoid towns, they make me rage, but if people just to stop infront of me I walk into them, then ask them why the fuck they stopped? You don't just stop in a car without looking you donkey gobbler, the worst are the ones who see friends out and about then stop and have a chat, look no one gives a shit about how much of a bucket so and so's minge is, get the fuck out of the thoroughfare.

Maddening.

Ahhh... Asda Cwmbran - you'll never meet more pedestrian villainy anywhere. Hate the place. Bad enough just getting in to the car park with the Taxi's ferrying, and I quote, 'overweight ugly gammon slipping scummy retards of the highest order'... Let alone the chaos within. The only good part in that store is the clothing area - probably because none of the clothes fit large lard-arses.

I was Green Cross Coded (by none other than Darth Vader/David Prouse) to oblivion.

I'm very aware of other things around me, I guess it's a visual boost because I am hard of hearing. What surprises me is the amount of iPod-wearing wallies who seem to think the world doesn't exist as soon as they press play... Evil or Very Mad

Must admit, ever since I've been riding a bike, a naturally shoulder-check when "pulling out" when walking. Laughing

I know it's not entirely related to supermarket madness, but fuckin pedestrians at certain junctions are fucking dangerous. This one imparticular:

https://i1220.photobucket.com/albums/dd448/Zeuky-Dooky/Blindmuthas.png

They look ahead (Towards the BP), and left, but refuse to look over their feckin' shoulder which means I nearly kill them. And especially with the teenage pregnancy rate where I live, half the time they've lauched a baby cage into the road just as i'm on my way round. Lucky I've learnt of their ignorance, but we get alot of numbskull van drivers around here who seem to think they need to drift round this corner. Seen far too many near misses involving children, it's scary :S

This however is hilarious when you're walking through town in a huge armored bike jacket. People just ricochet off Laughing
