Quick question - do motorcycles require you to buy a parking ticket, council run or not?

I wouldn't risk it... most require you to buy one.
I aim for bike parking anyway... there is plenty local to me.

It entirely depends on the council, the car park or zone and very possibly the whims of the ticket monkey on the day. You'll have to ask, and remember that the answer that you get may just be one person's opinion.

As said, depends on the council.
I work in Warwickshire and they very helpfully have a bit on their website, so may be worth checking your local council site... At least then you have written consent, as it were.

Ditto, there should be a sign not only with the hourly charges on, but also with the maximum fines and reasons, it should say if motorcycles are free, or more likely free within designated bays.

Most of the time if the sign doesn't say, then you need a ticket.

What if caught without a ticket? It could have been stolen or blown away.

In salisbury it says nothing about bikes on the machines but on asking 2 ticket monkeys they said you can park bikes and are not required to buy a ticket.

Saying that, there are several bike bays in salisbury so no real need to park elsewhere

Broxbourne councils car parks signs say nothing about bikes, but the council website says their free if parked in a motorcycle bay.

Best bet is always to check with the council, I wouldn't trust the attendant, all too often they have a lower IQ than the things splattered on your visor.

I have never brought a ticket for the bike where ever I am, Residents Parking, Hospital, because the ticket gets taken off and used in someone elses car
