ive been scouring the net searching for plastics or graphics to suit/fit the kmx 125 02' with no luck. during my search, i noticed that the kawasaki kmx is a big bike in the philippines. using google translate i half read half pretended to understand the posts on some forums but it seems they mod the bike in a way that it looks completely different and 100x better.

look here for what i mean

it looks like theyve use a complete set of plastics from another bike which im yet to confirm but i think kfx? and keep the original tank. ive got no clue as to what seat they use nor do i know how the hell they make fit the plastics fit. can any one shed some light as to how this is done or attempt a guess or two as im preparing to save some money and covert if it is simplish

any one agree it looks alot better than the original

Looks like a waste of time and money to me, when you could be saving the bike for one that actually IS better, 'than a sheep in wolf's clothing Wink.

A lot of dirt bike stuff can be pretty interchangeable with only minor bodging - as it's all pretty simple generally.
Just a new graphics kit advertising what ever the current 'in' cafinated sugar drink will probably make a big difference to you I suspect Wink.

the main reason i want to spruse the bike up a little is that all the current plastics and broken and a full set of kmx plastics are alot lot more expensive compared to something that could be modified to fit, on ebay the left side tank shround it going got £50 alone but a full set of new kfx plastics costs £75 with graphic options. im also looking to covert to 17" but unsure on what wheels to use

Does look good. I expect they are KXF plastics.

The rear panels are fairly simple to fit apparently. You've probably seen this video but this guy has fitted a KX 03/07 Polisport plastics. You're right, they are pretty cheap - especially compared to the genuine KMX panels.

I'd imagine the seat is the hardest to graft on, as the KMX has a seat catch. The KX seat will be thinner than the standard one.

The radiator shrouds need a bit of ingenuity to fit. Jake has had a go at fitting some from a YZF (See 4:18)

Does that give you some food for thought ?

There's a guy in the KMX group on facebook who's done the SM conversion. Looks like he just had the wheels re-laced with SM rims.

I've heard of Yamaha TW125 rims being fitted (which are cheap)

cheers for the links dave, what im planning on doing it buying a cheap battered set of kx250/450f plastics for mock fitting and buying some nuts with a flat head and a small shaft to epoxy to the tank, once ive got the measurement right, ill be welding the nuts in place and get myself new plastcs.

as for the seat illl be buying eather a kx125 seat or the kxf seat to match then strip the catches off the kmx seat and bolt them to the kx/kxf seat, at the same time ill get a peice of steel bent to bolt to the seat for the front catch.

the side pannels look easy to fit as theres a fair few places to bolt them too so that should be no problem.

the rear fender im going to chop the original kmx one above the fixing of the 2stoke tank so all the fitments are in place then chop the kxf one to fit which should be fairly easy.

the wheels seem to be by biggest issue. ive had a look at the yammy wheels but i think both front and back sitting on 18s looks ugly. the problem is, im not to clued up about lacing wheels so can any hub be laced to any spoke wheel?

Talon seem to be the popular choice for SM rims

Not cheap but good quality
