Hi all,

I bought a MotoGP rear paddock stand for my GSXR600 that has R&G Cotton reels fitted but it is slightly too narrow - I thought stands were universal? Or are the R&G Cotton reels the issue?

Any advice much appreciated.

Stu

Got a link?

On most paddock stands the 'prongs' are adjustable (usually on a rail that is locked in place with a bolt, or on a spring) so you can move them closer together or wider apart to suit the width of your swingarm.

If you're buying a fixed width stand, you need to check it's suitable for the swingarm.

Hi Alex,

I have this one:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/160642918458?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649#ht_1702wt_1378

It is adjustable but even at the widest setting it is slightly too narrow to catch both bobbins. There was a note on the site that it wouldn't fit a ZX10 but that was all they knew about that it wouldn't fit...evidently, it doesn't fit my bike either unless I'm using incorrect bobbins or something.

I've asked the shop too and await their reply.

You might be able to bend the arms out a bit more to make it fit.

I've had to bend arms in before for a small track bike, but always had them fit big bikes - ie my GSXR1000 with R&G cotton reels.

That stand is adjustable. Untighten the allen bolts at the tip of each vertical bar and slide the prongs out to the correct width, then re-tighten the bolts to secure it back in place.

That's fine for narrowing the gap but they are as wide as they'll go.

Methinks I need to either bend it or get different bobbins.

You may have enough clearance to flip one around and put it on the outside.

Yeah, going to try that now. Just finished putting my tail tidy on - and finding the number plate didn't fit so had to drill new holes; will get a new plate on Monday preferably a slightly smaller one if that's legal.
