Short story, took the Vero out for a few hours to get some praccy in before a 3 hour DAS session tomorrow. Towards the end of my personal session I'm getting a little bit more confident and cocky, all starting to feel natural etc.
Come off a roundabout into a rising left that tightens after 80 meters or so and I'm pushing the lean a bit further and feeding in a bit of countersteer when the back wheel lets go at about 35ish, never felt any warning just felt it sliding. Now I would like to say my experience from my rear drive car drifting allowed me to save it hero style but I'd be a feckin great liar. My left foot comes out all on its own and stamps down into the ground stopping me laying it down but throws me up too fast. It then goes into a good shake with my feet off both pegs being dragged along like a dog wiping its ass on the carpet. Somehow by blind luck I managed to do the right combination of whatever the hell I did and it settled down pretty quickly. After the shock i couldn't stop laughing Confused

Damaged wise, cracked top plastics on my left boot with scuffing and dented pride.

i'm guessing I was simply pushing my combination of limited ability and the bike and tyres a bit too far and simply caught myself out. Feedback is welcome.

What i do want to ask is the numb feeling, no indication of it going, is this normal on a bike? Could always feel the limits in my car but it totally pulled my pants down on two wheels. Or maybe just not enough concentration, maybe worn shock or poor setup or all of the above Embarassed .

Sorry for the essay for a non event to an experience rider but after some feedback.

There could have been some diesel on the road, slippery shite even on a dry road.
The most probable thing is that your tyre hit something it didnt like, could have been almost anything really so all you can do is call it experince and keep a good look out in future. You will soon get the knack of reading the road surface Thumbs Up

What tyres you got on it?, the standard fit trailwings have a bad rep on that bike for slipping out more so in the wet, BT45 battlax I found to be brill on a baby derro, never lost a footing on mine and son loves them on the bike.

They are the standard fit tyres I believe. Cheers for the replies, I'll just keep at it but go a little easier.

On a different note, did 3 hour DAS session yesterday and he was more then happy with my riding saying only minor adjustments needed. The gs500 I rode felt twitchy and small but I managed to get used to it. So onto mod 1 training then test Smile
