Was just wondering, on a set of dual disc dual piston sliding calipers, if the pistons/bores/seals were in brand new condition, but the sliding part is seized solid to the slider pins, would the brakes bind? not really sure how the slider part works but just trying to narrow down my binding brakes problem, cheers

Yes, my hornet had this problem. The sliding mechanism keeps the disk in the centre of the two pads. If it seizes, one side of the caliper will stay in contact with the disc more than the other and can bind that way.

What bike is it?

Hi

Yes, unless you were incredibly lucky ( Shocked ) and they were stuck with the non piston pad clear of the disk. Even then they would work very badly at best (and they would probably not be seized enough to not move when used and would then bind).

All the best

Keith

Ok thanks for quick answers guys, and yes its a 96 bandit 600 lol. Unfortunatly the sliders are so seized all the methods iv used to free them up havnt worked so im gonna take it down the garage while its still under warranty as they sold it to me like that after saying they'd just serviced the brakes Rolling Eyes (as far as I can tell they just put new pads in, although the piston tops look very clean compared to the rear brake)
