 |
|
Read in manual that tyres on my ZZR600 should be 36(f) 41(r)
However, after a 15 minute ride, I popped into garage to fill up bike and did tyres also.
Paddy told me that inflating tyres when warm means over pressurised. Is this dangerous? I let some air out when paddy told me and will check again tomorrow morning at garage round corner
Could the tyre explode if I use bike as is and tyres get warm?
Thanks in advance ____________________ Previous Bikes: TZR125, KMX125, RGV250, RD350YPVS, GXSR750H, GSXR600SRAD, R1 (2000), GSXR1000 (K1), ZZR600, CBR1100XX Super Blackbird

But always check the pressure when they are cold. ____________________ XX XXXx

Setting the tyre pressures when warm will leave them a bit too low pressure as most pressures are stated for when cold.
As an idea, when riding on track generally you go for 35/35 with hot tyres - obviously the tyres tend to get a fair bit hotter on track due to the constant (ab)use.
Cold pressures tend to be 29-30 for the rear tyre when cold and 31 for the front tyre when cold to get the desired temperature of 35 when hot.
So it's not a massive difference.
First race I got a 4th place in (got a few more, but never managed a podium) my tyres were at 55-60 psi. So, your're not going to die if it's about out either way . |

My manual states that the rear tyre on my ZZR6 should be 41psi.
Does that seem a little too high, as Paddy told me his Gixer is 36 (for both)
My front is 36 again according to manual ____________________ Previous Bikes: TZR125, KMX125, RGV250, RD350YPVS, GXSR750H, GSXR600SRAD, R1 (2000), GSXR1000 (K1), ZZR600, CBR1100XX Super Blackbird

When I pump my tyres up (have compressor and foot pump in garage) I put them to the manuals pressure. When I've ridden out and about for a while I went to check them again (slow puncture on front) the rear was about 4psi over... im guessing due to the warm tyres.
Front was down about 5
You are literally a stones throw from my house Next time you are passing through stop in for a coffee/tea/cold drink, let your tyres get back to normal and feel free to use the pump... its pretty hefty |
