Hi I have taken my module 2 now twice and failed. 3rd attempt next week. On 1st test a got zero minors and one major. 2nd test a was so nervous I was driving too close to park cards. I believe both failures were down to nerves because my inctructors tell me I am ready and a good driver.
Are there any other people out there that failed at least twice?

My confidence is rock bottom now.

Hi, if 1969 is a reference to your birth year then we are the same age Smile . You should be able to get lots of confidence from your 2 previous tests - you have valuable experience now & know what to expect - you were very close 1st time around so it`s about putting it all together on the day. I failed my first 2 driving tests & even managed to crash on my emergency stop when I failed my first bike test Embarassed but I got back up & completed the test for the experience - then 2 weeks later passed Laughing

Have some faith in yourself & believe that you can do it, take your time & concentrate but try to relax also. At least all the u-turns etc are out of the way!

You can do this no problem Thumbs Up

Hi,

I passed Mod 2 first time round, but only after I had failed Mod 1 twice Embarassed ... Both times my nerves got the better of me. Especially the first time, as my test was straight after seeing someone highside and then carted off in an ambulance! Shocked

But the best bit of advice I was given before my Mod 2, was to imagine the examiner is just a satnav and enjoy the ride!

Good luck!

i passed my mod 2 yesterday but was v nervous.. definitely agree with that last point.. imagine the voice in your head is a sat nav and just relax and enjoy it.. a few deep breaths can help settle you down to ride your own ride and try not to worry about someone watching you. yesterday was fine really.. i even lead us the wrong way off a roundabout.. but.. i did it correctly and that's what matters.. the instructor was fine about it and made me realise they're nice enough people..

are you familiar enough with the routes out of and around the test centre? that helped me.. nice to know the starting route to settle you down and later on i already knew the roadworks.. the tight bends.. the 20 mph zone by the school.. which helped me from making a daft mistake.

good luck !!!

I excel at failing bike tests Very Happy

I failed the old test 3 times, and even took 2 and half goes before I got through the CBT.

The only test I failed at failing was the new mod1, which I got through first time.

You'll get there in the end, just keep at it and ignore the guy riding behind you, just go out and ride.

Sorry but if you are that bad at riding that you failed your CBT twice... i don't think i want you on the roads with me. No disrespect meant, some people can't pick things up as easily as others.

I was exactly in the same situation you are now. I failed my motorbike test twice due to nerves and passed third time. After failing twice i was so depressed i honestly believed that i will never get it because I could not control being so nervous. I was fine until the examiner came out and then I couldn't even explain how you check the lights are working properly. Even my instructor got pissed off with me because he knew I can ride perfectly to the exam standards. On my third attemt I managed to calm down the moment I sat on that bike. I said to myself that if i fail this it will be due to ANYTHING but nerves Smile. Reminding myself that i could retake the exam as many times as i want helped a lot. At the end of the exam i was sure i failed and even when the examiner said i have passed i thought it's not true. Try and stay as calm as you can and even if you do get nervous again, don't get nervous that you are nervous (im sure you get the point) Very Happy. It's only a simple ride for 40 minutes. That's all. Think positive, you will only fail the moment you give up, which you never will because you want a bike to much to do that. Good luck!

Thanks for the really kind advice everyone has given me. Has made me feel much better about taking mod 2 and not to get too nervous. Hell I would take it 10 times if if means I passed in the end. Got a lovely Kawasaki ER6F waiting in my back garden waiting to be riden. I cant wait..

Thanks...

Your welcome Brad, you will be riding that ER6F before you know it.

Also remember the examiner always say's "when your ready...", so don't rush yourself and let us know how you get on! Smile

Just do it again. You'll get there in the end. It's only a fail if you give up.

Excellent advice guys, i have just passed my mod 1 as well and im going to try for the mod 2 soon, i failed mod 1 the first time but sat it again on friday with 1 minor for going too slow on the swerve (intentionally)then done it second time with ease, i have not had any lessons on my bike (125 Varadero) so im hoping that a mate of mine will take me around the test routes as he passed about 2 months ago and if i fail first time im thinking so what at least i will have the experience of trying it then re-book as soon as i can, i think its all about confidence on the day, meant to mention as well that im 47 and doing it on a restricted as it suits my budget, cheers guys.

Hi Brad, I do feel for you, I've been there with my driving test, it took my quite a few goes and everytime my nerves got worse, I was so bad my feet were shaking so bad my knees started to knock lol.

I got myself so worked up about my bike test last year and really had to compose myself on the morning. I was white as a sheet but just constantly talked myself through it and tried my best to look confident even though I was shaking.

Just say to yourself you can do it, sit up straight, tell yourself to keep distance, mirror checks, shoulder checks etc.

The best of luck Thumbs Up

Hi Folks

I'm new here but have taken solice in the wise words dished out on failing the Mod 2 test!! Sad

I had my test today and although it went well I goofed up bad in the last 3 mins of the test!! (Last stretch of road before getting back to the test center) (2 serious) 1:front wheel stopped over the stop line at a red light & 2: 40mph in a 30mph zone!! (was a big fat road to boot)! Both of which I should know better as I've been a car driver for long enough Embarassed

But something that did pee me off was that my instructor tightened the chain on my test bike 2 hours before I took the test. I said the bike felt more 'aggressive' and 'bitey' but he said it was fine. After the test he then said that it was slightly over tightened which accounted for the 'new noise' it was making which I found a bit off putting whilst riding, not to mention the 'extra bite' the bike now had!

On top of that my indicators where playing up (blinking very fast) which the examiner picked up on and later my instructor said in front of the examiner he had noticed but all the indicators where working! Has anyone else had an issue's like this??? Thumbs Down

I know it wasn't why I failed but it was an added stress!

I have to wait 3 weeks now till my next Mod 2 test but think I will fair better on it! Razz

Nice site!

Hi Steve

Tough luck today but it's good that you've re-booked. You know what you did wrong and now you wont do it again and the next time you'll nail it Smile

By the way, you should post a new thread as it'll get lost as this one is kinda old.

Good luck on the re-take. Thumbs Up

i've just failed my MOD 2 for the second time (yesterday) and felt suicidal afterwards. However we've got the retest booked and I had a heart to heart with my instructor over more lessons. His response was that he doesnt't really think I need them but we'll have a quick refresher for a couple of hours prior to the next test.

I must say his confidence in me is encouraging and went some way to making me feel a whole lot better !

Laughing Yeah I can empathise with that!! But if I had passed I would have only had 2 minors, which is surprising as I had a headache with my lifesavers!!

Thanks for the support and kind words but I guess you all know where Im coming from...

My next test is the 22nd this month so a 3 week wait, im gonna have a lesson a week to keep it up and maybe an extra lesson the day before, I feel more confident now I know what to expect.... but I know anything can happen.... forgot to mention that someone stepped out into the road on me during my test also (when I was doing a pull-away from the side of the road) after the examiner asked me to pull over, then pull out again!! But I handled that so I think he was ok with it.

I had a white van change his mind from turning right to moving across 2 lanes to go left - in the same direction as me (I was turning right). That distracted me and contributed to me not allowing 2 cars to totally clear the turn and ensure my exit road from the junction was clear !

He failed me for that - a sickener as I only had 2 minors prior to it happening - and I was on my way back to the test centre at the time !

Anything can happen on the day out of the ordinary !!

Hi All

Great News!! I passed Mod 2 yesterday at 10am!! Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy (2nd time lucky)

I'm over the moon, was still nervous but kept it under control... made a few minor blunders but no serious. Was told to go left twice and went right Embarassed not a fail but it bothered the examiner enough to make me do a u-turn and go back to the correct junction!! also slipped into neutral twice... man he's the original Eagle Eyes Shocked and saw every little thing!

So went straight over to my Yammy dealer to pick up a XJ6 Divvy F ABS, who kindly had it waiting there for me ready to roll! Got 100 miles under my belt but planning to get the first 600 service in before Thursday (as I have a cheeky week off Very Happy )

Have to say it feels absolutely fantastic being able to ride out without having an instructor beside me and I feel so much more relaxed now it's all over (oddly I think my riding is better because of it)!

Good luck to all who are getting ready for their exams/mods and safe riding to us all!

Steve Very Happy

Great job. Love that you kept it together after going the wrong way - just illustrates that it's not where you go, it's how you go that counts. Enjoy the Divvy, the F is a tidy looking bike. Crash bungs!
