Hello,

Okay so now I have the theory out of the way, I can focus on getting my first bike and getting some experience to then take my tests when im ready.

I have been looking at Honda CG, Yamaha YBR. But they all seem so expensive. Well over £1200 and I cant afford that, And I dont feel I should even spend that on a 125cc and it being my first bike.

I have found this bike made by AJS, Stating they are British but source parts from China. I know all about Chinese Bikes like they are not reliable, but should I avoid 'AJS'?

Any other help would be good thanks, And It would have to be a Geared Bike not Twist and go, Thanks.

They are British, but made in china they stopped being made in Britain in late 60's

they aren't a bad bike if you like slow
basically Honda copies but not made as well
I had a 3 year old which wasn't as rusty as some ive seen, resell valve very poor, couldnt even sell mine for £300 Rolling Eyes

But it then got stolen so i managed to get rid of it in the end

I will just wait and see if a Honda CG or Yamaha YBR comes up for quite cheap. I dont want to buy a bike that I cant sell for hardly anything when I come to sell it.

You will get a half decent CG for around 600-800 quid mate.

It's just a case of looking and waiting. They do come around though and what with winter creeping up ever quicker the prices will drop a wee bit.

I fluked a Varadero for £800 and I love it to bits so just keep looking and you will find the bike you want at the price you want to pay.

Ed, I noticed a poster in a place I was working with a Suzuki Intruder 125 for sale at £700. That was over 2 years ago now and I've still got it. It's done just over 6700miles and I love it.

Look in the local paper, any of the buy and sell type mag and you'll probably find some decent bikes. I'd avoid the Chinese bikes and go for a Jap bike really.
