So, got my theory tomorrow, have done the official 2010 DSA test on my pc, failed the question part the first two times and passed the second two times with 95% and 86% respectively, have done the hazard perception twice and passed both times with 95% and 85% so should be ok with that I think.
Is there anything I need to look out for especially that they may throw in as its a proper test? I seem to be ok with the majority of the highway code stuff but lacking mostly on the motorbike questions.

I think you should have done more preparation before booking it really Shocked

But anyway, the questions are really easy they're just common sense. You've got loads of spare time in the test to read every question slowly and fully, the same with the answers too.

For me the hazard perception part is the most difficult. Once you've been out driving/riding for a while you just react to the hazards and what's happening; it's kinda tricky to think to yourself, right, I've got to click for that car door opening.

But yeah, just relax and think about everything fully (most of the questions are common sense)

The theory tends to be questions like;

An elderly lady is slowly crossing the road - which of the following should you do?

a) accelerate as fast as possible to beat her to the junction
b)head butt her violently due to stress caused having to wait
c)slow down & be prepared to wait for her to cross
d)run the fucker over.....then steal her kittens

....it's basically 20 minutes of that Thumbs Up

I'd say do the practice, before the test actual, on the hazard perception just to get into the swing of it on a different PC.

On that note, haven't they heard of HD at the DSA? Very Happy

The Hazard Perception is a comedy. Very Happy

It's a pathetic excuse of a test, that's just my opinion of it.

Don't keep clicking in quick succession or you will fail.
Kinda just click every second or so when a hazard appears for a maximum of about 6 -7 clicks on that particular hazard. Click to often or to fast and it will not score you.

It's a video game and you have to 'agree' with the programmer on where the hazards are but try to take it seriously for that 10 minutes Laughing

There is a section on the questions where it will give you a scenario (Pizza delivery or whatever) then it will ask you a series of questions with nothing at all to do with said scenario Laughing

That was the only part that wasn't on any of the test sites I practiced on.

It's a doddle and can seem like a bit of a scam to make a few quid out of you.
Good luck with the test Thumbs Up

Oh, maximum width of a motorbike trailer is 1 Meter Wink

Isn't the one in Leicester right across from the rutland centre car-park?
I'd park there just take a photo of the ticket and chain the bike up etc.

So, passed the test with not much difficulty, got 4 questions wrong on the multiple choice, and 5/4/3/2 on the HPT, no 1's or misses.

So might look into doing a mod 1 on my CG125, just to see what its like, dont hold out much hope of passing but might just do it to see what its like and what I need to practice.

Congrats Thumbs Up

Mod 1 isn't too difficult to be honest - get some cones and do some off road practise. Here's the layout.

Though the examination shouldn't be based on the examiners opinion of you, it's safe to say if they're 50/50 on passing and failing then their opinion is going to come into play. Go there wearing all your gear and be polite - treat the whole thing as a test (even though it doesn't technically start until you get inside the area).

When I was getting ready for my Mod1, it was suggested that I went over to the test centres and watched a few Mod1 exams just to get a feel for it - so I'm forwarding that advice to you too Smile
There's plenty of Mod1 advice on these forums, just put a search in for Mod1 and I'm sure you'll get a weeks worth of reading material Laughing
