Petrol Sealant

Hi,

Ive got a plastic fuel tank from a ride on mower. The fuel tap (also plastic) threads into the bottom.
Ive just unscrewed the tap to replace it as its FUBAR but it seems to have bought some of the tanks thread with it. Theres not a lot of thread left in there. The tap will screw back in and hold, but its not 100%, and wont fully tighten. I gets close, but just keeps turning. I put a bit of water in there to check, and it weeps slightly.
Looking for some sealant thats petrol resistant.
Any suggestions or advice? I cant really replace the tank, it quite expensive!

Is silicon sealant resistant to petrol? Stinkwheel said he used it on header pipes to the engine...?

I had a leaky petrol tank on the GS500 and ended up using body filler on the tank. worked fine Laughing

Ive used silicon sealant on leaking fuel taps before without a problem. No guarantees though! Thumbs Up

is what you want, it's what the raf use to seal fuel tanks on planes, ive used it on a leaky sump and my old nsr fuel tank works brilliantly only downside is you can't store it once it's mixed so you end up wasting most of the tube
