From last year

First Thorny Island (Portsmouth) RWYB This Weekend 04/09/2003 08:45:56
I know it's a bit late, but if you're in the south of England this weekend, why not have a bash at the first Run What You Brung at Thorny Island, Portsmouth?

It's a full 1/4 mile strip with two lanes, an ideal test track for you Straightliners who are 'dahn sarth' as The Bishop would say.

All are welcome, and the more that turn up, the more chance we have of getting this venue for 2004.

I don't care who's fastest. I have my own targets of 151.1mph flyer and 11.6s quarter mile to beat. Might have to revert back to standard gearing for a better flyer, and my starts need major practice. It's always fun trying though anyway. Very Happy

Will they let me run my mini moto down the drag strip? That would be quite funny.

G, ste and me could all see who get the best time on them. Laughing

Would the race be to the finish or to see whose will break down last? Laughing

Hi

Well my target for the Bandit is a true 150 on the top speed run and getting the standing 1/4 time under 11 seconds.

Taking off the mirrors and putting on the tarty engine covers will make all the difference.

Might even take the Bimota down the drag strip (must remember to pack a spare set of clutch plates).

All the best

Keith

Ahem,

I think if we are talking straight acceleration, there's not much that will beat the Triple.

Of course I would be waving goodbye to people when I start slowing down at 100mph! Laughing

I've been wondering how the new litre 4's will do on the strip. I think their main disadvantage is the lack of weight, one of the reasons the Busa is so fast.
the lass on the 02 Blade last year was doing well but not amazingly fast. Guess we'll have to see if Cwaig can keep the front down long enough to drag race Very Happy
