Bleeding of breaks ? Advice please

Due to my friend, I've now got a front break with no fluid in it now just air.
My head is telling me this could be a lot of fun getting the fluid back in with out any bubbles.
Would there be any one out there who knows any good tips to help me do this without getting a headache

get some plastic tubing, to fit over the nipple, some brake fluid. A 8mm spanner put the spanner on the nipple.

You also need a cup.

Fill the cup with brake fluid about half way.

Put the 8mm spanner on the nipple

Stick the tube on the end of the nipple.

Put the other end of the tube in the cup under the surface of the brake fluid.

Fill the resevoir at the top, to the brim and pump the brake. The fluid in the top will go down very slightly each pump and I mean very slightly. Keep on doing it for 3-4 resevoirs.

Now repeat but pump five times hold the brake lever in. Tie it off if needs be and undo the bleed nipple. Bubbles should come out, big ones. Do up the nipple pump some more, put some more fluid in pump five times hold undo nipple repeat over and over.

Keep repeating less and less air should come out, until you get fizzy drink bubble sized bubbles. You'll hear the brake piston creak against the pads when you;ve got all the air out. Eventually the brake lever will offer firm resistance do it a few more times until brake fluid and only brake fluid comes out the nipple.

You may want to take a BREAK from bleeding your BRAKES at BREAKTIME.

I usually bleed my brakes by these few steps.

1. Fill the brake reservoir.
2. loosen the bleed nipple.
3. Pull in the brake lever (slowly).
4. Tighten the bleed nipple.
5. Release the brake lever (Slowly).

After repeating the above steps a few times, you will need to refill the brake reservoir.

Keep doing it until no more air comes out of the bleed nipple(s).

If two bleed nipples are on the same caliper, then I bleed one fully then bleed the second nipple.

Never really understood that. As long as the tube goes up after it leaves the nipple (and it will) then that part of it will fill with fluid and stop air being drawn into the system. You don't need the whole tube to be full of fluid.

The other thing that I do is to put a good smear of grease around the base of the nipple - is anyone else getting horny? - to stop any air being sucked in that way.

Just want to say thanks for all the helpful tips and advice. My front brake works better than before and It was easier than I first thought

With that and a length of tube you can reverse blead the system, which will get all the air out of the brake hose, then blead normally, back into the syringe to clear any remaining air out of the caliper
