To join in the latest flurry of car purchasing related posts I feel the need to display my new wheels Very Happy

I've made my attachment to Alfa Romeos reasonably clear, so no one will be surprised to discover that I have replaced one Alfa with another... (apologies Bendy, I'm a loser... it has a roof Crying or Very sad)

Bye bye Alfa Donkey (my beloved, sturdy, utterly bomb proof 146)

Hello Shouty Alfa!

https://photos-h.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc1/hs143.snc1/5289_207575295566_790925566_7604415_6401405_n.jpg

Complete with road-rage enhancing red leather interior:

It's a 3l V6 Alfa Romeo GTV. Or, as Mister Clarkson refers to them, "The King of Petrol Head Heaven". I refuse to calculate the petrol consumption as I know it'll hurt.

However, I'm particularly pleased with its spacious interior. Here's Shaun forced into the brace position in the back (the front passenger seat is as upright and forwards as it will go Laughing)

Shaun when I eventually buy a car how much do you charge to model for BCF pictures as I've been ringing round all day and so far only PeterNSR has given me anything worth considering?

Would a joke or tagline be included or would it be an optional extra?

Well normal rates are about £40 a picture if I look like I do there, if you want me to dress like I give a shit then it's £80 a pic.

Or you can just invite me to a beer festival in the middle of nowhere then point out that if I don't do as I'm told it's a fucking long walk home.

Nice car, alloys are fine!

I'm glad to see the back of my old 146, that and its wishbones, and heater control cables, and cheese bolts...and..

Love they shape Alfa's, almost got a Brera a couple of years ago if the salesman hadn't made an arse of the paperwork.

Love the "Madam Whiplash Red" leather choice Thumbs Up

They should last 40~50k. Although some of the cheap pattern ones struggle to manage a quarter of that.

All the best

Can't think of a better reason not to buy a car Wink.
I shall have to have a play in an Alfa sometime, but so far I remain unconvinced.

I've considered buying one of these several times in the past but for some reason i just cant decide if i actualluy like the look of them or not. Its crazy as they are donkeys years old and there are plenty about but one day i will be drooling when i see one and the next time i just think it looks kinda wrong somehow! Confused

If i do find myself buying one someday it will definately have those wheels and that engine though, i have ascertained that much over the years! Thumbs Up Karma

The Top Gear Review:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5YNWzIXFPOc&feature=related

The first week of ownership has been absolutely brilliant, I love the noise it makes, the way vehicles just move out of the way (even BMWs!!) oh, and the speed at which the kevved up Saxo shrunk in my mirror after he tried to race me. It just feels fun to drive, even the torque steer makes me grin like a lunatic.

I love it. Very Happy It was inevitable.

I love the shape of it from the side, really mean, but i'm sorry Bella, I just don't seem to be able to appreciate those headlights. Sad

Still, not like i'd ever be seeing the headlights if I was driving...

Gosh. An 3l Alfa Romeo GTV. That's pretty.

I have something similar.

Unfortunately I'm having a few problems with it right now. When I say a few, I mean like one of those problems they might feature on a "Repair Jobs from Hell" programmes.

I only wanted an MOT and a service.

but then I needed a new clutch. Better still, why not get a "defective" new clutch that doesn't work when fitted.

oh and why not get a new flywheel at the same time. Better still, why not get a "defective" new flywheel.

I ordered my second flywheel today. So far my costs (including the first service and MOT) are creeping towards £2000.

I just wanted to share my misery! Mr. Green Thumbs Up

My work colleagues were taking the piss for a while. They've stopped now.

Nice car. Good shape, nice wheels, pointy bits in the right place, the right number of cylinders, nice interior, nice trim etc etc.

I could have had all that, but I traded it all for six cylinders in a straight line and rear wheel drive. I /must/ be a RWD geek...

https://www.bikechatforums.com/files/bm1.jpg

It seems with Mercedes being very heavy and nearly all auto, Audi liking FWD and Quattro, Most other euroboxes and Rice burners being FWD or AWD a beemer is the only choice... sadly.

You'd think I would have learnt after owning a Cagiva.

Italian engineering = pain and suffering.
