Well let me say this....

My bike has been stood for 18 months. I just charged the battery and cranked till it started.
About 5 or 6 goes and it fired. Still had the same petrol and oil in. Let it idle for a while and then increased the revs to clear it out.

Jobs a good un Thumbs Up

My bike had stood for over a decade. Changed the petrol and oil etc and IIRC i turned over the engine with the HT lead removed to make sure the piston moved... Laughing
Refiited the lead and 3rd kick it started.
Unless your fuel tank was brimmed i'd suspect quite abit of condensation in the tank. I managed to drain mine through the carb drain screw to get as much water out.
