Can anyone tell me what the requirements are for petrol caps I have but it has no lock in it I know they changed the law in 2004 I wanted to know if I would get away putting duck tape over so it does not leak many thanks Jamie

Just put my bike through the MOT with a motorcross filler cap (no lock - just screws on). No problem at all for the MOT.

Not part of the MOT test, if your fuel cap is leaking it seems a bit daft to continue riding it.

Incorrect.

For the MOT it doesn't have to lock, but it does have to be secure and it has to have a good seal. A screw in type is fine, a push in type isn't.

I am not riding it I just want to put an mot on the bike I was just asking if tapping the the cap closed would pass the mot many thanks

Don't bother with that MOT uk site, it's 10 years out of date. Use the DFT site instead:

I have just read the link u have posted duck tape would keep it source and leak free would u pass a bike with duck tape over the petrol cap ;?
