Slowly, but surely, this place is disappearing:

https://londonist.com/2011/04/in-pictures-heygate-estate-se1.php

Most of it is still there, but I wouldn't want to wander round after dark, even though it's my manor.

Harperbury Hospital is 5 minutes from me and i have looked around many times.

I know of an old Pump house outside Redbourn which is basically a two story high square structure with no roof.

And there are now a few delapidated Houses around the Buncefield Oil depot site in Hemel

Look on FlickR for pictures in Hellingley Asylum, sadly it was finally pulled down in March, before I got there. But there are plenty other abandoned places dotted around the country, you just gotta be creative... I found a cellar with an old Victorian Greenhouse heater and radiator and other interesting tools the other day...was straight in there with my camera the day after. Cool Thumbs Up

I can't remember where I saw it but it was this mad concrete island built for workers of some kind of oil rig or something. Might have got it totally wrong but I'm sure it was in the 80's in Japan or something?

I had a poke around Harperbury a few years ago, and Napsbury too (before it became a housing estate and scumbag haven - the people who bought their houses there must be proper cheesed off with the influx of dross)

Before he retired, my father was involved in the sale of Napsbury, and is mostly responsible for the retention of the lovely old mature trees around the site.

I always found it a bit strange that there were so many looney bins around St.Albans.

Panshanger Aerodrome in WGC is worth a poke around, there's plenty of old dilapidated buildings on the site there. I always liked going up into the old control tower for a quiet smoke, don't know if it's still standing, been a few years since I went there.

@ Recoil Jay - the place you're thinking of is probably Gunkanjima (Hashima Island)

I just can't look at most of that - strange as it may seem, and as far as I'm aware, this is my only phobia. Cold sweats, near panic, terrified pretty much sums it up. Empty Victorian swimming baths - just call the ambulance now....

Empty, derelict buildings I really don't find good - even thinking about this gives me the heebies....

Irrational fear - very hard to explain - and for the record, I've man'd the feck up several times - I used to be a surveyor and had to deal with these premises often, aversion therapy does not always work!

I prefer the Urban Sickness website, but here is another.

https://www.abandoned-britain.com/

Having had the chance to explore Cane Hill Hospital on two occassions, these websites bring back some very distinct memories.
There is an atmosphere that surrounds the building that you simply cannot ignore, nor forget.

I keep looking on 28dayslater and keep comming across alot of places that have been explored, but are now being shut off....
Am I being niave and thinking why?
I see alot of posts about Zurich (spelling) towers, which is right outside my window - Yet I thought that was being built into an hotel. Id love to go inside, and to the top!
Its history that I would love to explore, without getting into trouble.
Hilsea Lines, if anyone is in the area is worth going to check out.
Most is shut off by bars (Back then, everything was open)
Now is crawling with guards.
I would love to go back to HL's but I know, if caught that is it Laughing
