I was interested in this as a winter project, I felt it could be made quite nice and it will probably go for not too much money. So, just to be on the safe side, I HPI'd it and it turns out to be an insurance write-off due to damage. A little naughty of the vendor not to mention it in his addy, don't you think?

Not really, on a bike of that age and price it makes no difference.

He probably doesn't even know. The bikes probably passed through a few hands since the insurance write off. I know I wouldn't bother with a check as long as the bloke had the V5 on something like that.
