Got a little problem, I can't switch to 3rd gear until i'm doing about 35mph, when I change around 30 it makes a horrible noise, I could just use 2nd gear but it is practically roaring at 30 so not sure what to do?

Is shifting to soon damaging to the gears/engine or is there any other way I can get around this?

Take a look at your front sprocket. If that looks ok then you need to think about getting into the engine. Your gearbox can handle running in any gear at any speed the engine can obtain but you'll kill the engine very quickly running everywhere flat out in second.

Easy stuff first: how's the tension on your clutch cable? There's should be just a little slack at the lever - try tightening the cable a bit if there's significant free play.

You're going to have to do better than that. Just about every noise on a bike gets louder as you go faster. What bike are we talking about anyway?

Honda nsr 125. It's hard to describe a sound... It sounds like a jump rope but louder and more high pitch. Better? Haven't you gone into another gear to early? than I suppose it would sound like that.

Still struggling TBH. If you change twice so you are in 4th does the noise persist?

Changing to fourth has always let off a nice, healthy noise, tends to only happen with the 3rd.
