So, ER-6f went smash....

Was only ~5 months into finance, insurance+gap cleared the lot, now my 2nd finance agreement in a year with blackhorse that has been settled early.

Consequently, blackhorse now like me a lot.

Decided on a new bike, GSX650F, with luggage, alarm etc. Suzuki offer nice low rate finance plus this whole £1 per CC thing.

Unfortunately Suzuki use "Close Motor Finance" who won't give me finance.

So now, the £1 per CC offer has ended, and if I still want the bike I have to pay £650 more, AND go through blackhorse which means unsubsidised finance at about 14.9% APR.

The new finance was no more expensive than the old finance that I was paying fine, and I now earn ~£300 a month more than I did when I took that out.

tl;dr, can't have the bike I want, life sucks...

Don't know what to buy now Sad

Haha....

Already paid for IAM skills for life, but cannot complete it due to lacking a motorcycle.

Also, accident was due to a front tyre blowout on a motorway, not sure training would have helped Wink

Looks like I am stuck with Kawasaki or Yamaha for my next bike, but I don't want another ER6 and I don't like any of the Yam's... except MAYBE the Diversion F, except it is 7k rather than the GSX's 5.5k for no good reason...

Personal loan should be much lower interest rate.

But why did the other company turn you down, given your previous history with blackhourse. Or is there something else that has effected that.

I would LOVE the new CBR600f, the problem is that including car accidents I now have 3 claims in the last 3 years, meaning insurance quotes on one are ~£3k, which is insane!!!

Barclays will let me have a personal loan, but want 26.9% APR on it.

I've cleared two Black horse agreements now in under a year, and they assure me there would be absolutely no problem giving me another, in fact they would bite my hand off.

Different creditors have different scoring methods, Close just hate me for some reason I guess, no negative changes to my file since the last agreement, lots of positive ones (in a lot less debt now).

Mostly annoying because I now have to pay £650 more, no matter what, as the Suzuki offer is over...

3 claims in 3 years, can't afford to buy a new bike yet you still want one on finance.

Buy an old bike it won't be some bad when you smash it up. Buying new is moronic, especially if you are doing so on finance and especially if you keep smashing them up.

I'd just go with the flow and get another ER-6. When you factor in the finance deal they are far and away the cheapest.

What about a Versys? A little different at least.

I can easily afford a new bike, I can afford the insurance and the finance on the GSX easily Smile

In fact, as the insurance was only going to be 1k on it, I was going to pay it as a lump sum.

At a stretch, I could afford to insure the CBR, but I refuse to pay half the bike's value for insurance.

3 claims, 1 being a car theft, the other a car non-fault, and the most recent, a high speed front blowout on a motorbike with 4k on the clock.

None of which really avoidable for me, and more down to luck.

Nothing wrong with buying new, it gets you 0% APR, better to buy with someone else's money than my own!

The problem with this is that I have to walk to work in the ~18 months between now and affording a new GSX650F.

I don't want a ratbike or an old shed Razz

I'll end up getting a Yam or a Kawak, as they both use black horse.

In fact.... possibly a Ducati 696.... Pretty sure Ducati are black horse...

On a tarted up bandit/gs500 rip?

You are shitting me Laughing

Neutral

It costs me <£1000 to insure a 1000cc sports Shocked Fuck buying a Suzuki me-gonna-rust in a dress Shocked

If you were gonna pay the insurance in full..and its 1k, look at a bike you can buy for £1000 and insure it monthly... it wont lose as much money as it will when you roll it out the showroom and headbutt a car...

This interests me!!!

How long ago was it?

Even the suzuki site lists the current 0% deal as through close motor finance, but maybe after this ends at the end of october it goes back...

How do I handle an unexpected front tyre blowout at 75mph on the motorway then? Razz

It's not about preventing or not, it's about the fact that you are clearly quite accident prone, and a cheaper bike will make future crashes cost you less. Besides buying a new bike to commute in the winter isn't such a great idea anyway. Personally I don't like new bikes anyway.

Yes, insurance is expensive, I'm living with it, hence going for a GSX650F rather than a GSX1000R.

I'm not complaining about insurance, I'm paying it. I'm completely fine with £1k, it's everyone else here that feels this is extortionate Wink

Just annoyed about the finance, when I have been fine with finance from black horse of the same amount/cost.

The ER-6f had 4k on it, the tyre was on there from when I bought it new. Seems to have been damaged by something sharp in the road.

I am chasing a claim with the MIB under the untraced drivers scheme at the moment... IF that works it will pay off any finance on a new bike I get and more, but I'm told these things take *months*

So, whats the problem then? If you can afford it why don't you just go out and buy it?
