Much chopping and changing of bikes of ALL types this past three years and I have finally accepted something!
Being a fat dwarf the riding position of most sports or sport tourers does not work for me! The laid low and clip ons are just not comfortable on my bad wrists etc. I also don't like sports fairings!
This doesn't bode well for the YZF600R Thundercat in my garage. For a small bike, 600cc, the engine is grunty and fast enough for me and the Physical Size of the bike isn't too big for me. Ideally I'd like to change it for a more upright bike with proper handlebars etc and no fairing. I do not have any spare "Earth Pounds" as I no longer work as a result of my brain injuries. The finances also affects any modifcations I can do to the bike if I keep it. I'd like to take fairings off, get risers and proper bars on the top yoke etc. I would have to get a new headlight if the fairing came off and find some free mounting clocks to fit as well. A few people seem to do this sort of thing, mainly after writing the bike off in a smash, and a lot of them insist on calling the finished object a "Streetfighter". In my view a Fighter is a planned change of more than a tin of matt black paint and should be taken as a serious project. I just want the bike to feel right and practical for me. Part of that, I admit, is making the headlight point where I am pointing the bike Wink
So... Any thoughts, ideas, donations of unwieldly huge amounts of maney Thumbs Up etc or even links to pictures of stuff that might be of interest!

The Fazer 600 of the same age is pretty much the bike you are after. Same motor.

A full set of good nick plastics with headlight etc is worth a fair amount of money - they would pay for a few tins of paint, a new headlight and some shiny stuff with change to spare.

Of course it would make more sense to just buy a naked bike, naked SV650 is small and has a good riding position for instance and there are various others you might also like.

Silly thing is that one of the bikes I got a couple of years ago when I finally convinced the medics to give me a licence again was a '56 plated Fazer 600. I didn't like it so got rid of it and moved on. Go figure!
