Question

Hi all bit of a weird one for you, passed my CBT 4 years ago and looking to do it again and also continue onto full license. Question is, since doing my cbt I unfortunately developed an eye condition, I have been to the opticians and they have said on a good day I will sitami bed plate and pass and a bad day maybe not !! Which really doesn't help! Could you please advise at what stage your eyes were tested eg mod 1 mod 2 , not at all, by trainer etc, as you can imagine don't wanna pay the money or be shown up infront of everyone lol. Just so I can get an idea then just need to book, as don't wanna pass on one mod and fail the next!!!
Ps field vision well above average just distance affected bit like pixels in a camera can see everything just not in as much detail as you
Cheers guys....

CBT - They do an eye test first thing when you get there.

Mod 1 - No eye test.

Mod 2 - Examiner does an eye test before the ride begins.

If you last done a cbt 4 years ago then you need to renew that and you will be asked to read a standard number plate at 20.5m

There is no eyesight test for Mod1

Mod2 requires an eyesight test same as the cbt.

Edit: Beaten to the internet Very Happy

If you're eyesight is not up to standard, then it's not up to standard.

Do you choose to ride with poor eyesight on your "bad days"?

If you can't read a number plate at 20 metres then as far as there concerned your eye sight isn't good enough regardless of if you get a letter or not. Will glasses not help?

I see your point just extremely frustrating as you can imagine, going from riding a bike and car now the possibility of neither.

Hi Tom

Glasses do to a degree but it was damage I sustained to my optic nerve which is apparently unfixable, I can see perfect vision using a bioptic on my glasses but it's not legal to drive using them in this country although it makes my eyes better than the average person!!! Thanks for your comments tho think I'll go back to the opticians and see what he recommends thanks again...

similar situation winston, so recently gave my bike away and my scooby is up for sale.

just sods law mate, could be worse but not worth the risk as my eyesight can vary by the minute. (double vision, one eye not focussing etc)
