Let's have a recollection of the route and highs and lows of the trip. Surely you can do this? Please?

Ok well you will all be greatly disappointed with this thread as I took naff all pictures and can only remember 1 road and cant remember where we stayed Embarassed

So started off at 5.30am on Saturday morning, blasted the 80 odd miles to Dover in about 1 hour 15 minutes. (The thick fog slowed us down Cool)

At Dover waiting for Ferry.

Had to get one of the cliffs Very Happy

1st brown trouser moment was getting on to the ferry....... I nearly lost the back wheel as the deck was SUPER slippery Embarassed

So we arrive in Calais in good time, it is HOT 35 degrees!!

Now keep in mind we did zero planning, so we pull over and just type Belgium into the twat nav and off we go..... We try and take it easy at first as neither are us have had much experience driving on the right..... but that lasts about 10 minutes as the autoroutes are so straight lol.

We get to Belgium and ride about looking for a nice place to stay, when we get to a nice area we put campsite into the twatnav and off we go again. The first place we get to is fully booked, im sweating like a pig by now as it feels about 50 degrees im also getting stressed as im hungry, hot and have just ridden 250 miles. So we follow the twatnav to the next campsite. I have taken my textiles off by now and have calmed down Cool

We roll up to another site and thank Christ there is room at the inn. The guy speaks zero english but I manage to converse with what I remember from my GCSE Frence lessons Laughing

The site is really basic but for 10 euros a night we cant complain, but everyone is really and friendly and we end up getting really drunk in the little bar with the locals Smile

That night we have an epic thunderstorm with torrential rain and winds! Cool Very Happy

Next day we follow directions we got from the locals to get to Luxembourg so we follow the N4 (National 4 Autoroute) from Belgium. The roads were beautiful and so straight you can see for miles, the added bonus is that there is noone on them. So we open up the bikes and floor it most of the way to Luxembourg.

Really nice place and if you are near that arear I would definately recommend visiting.

You can walk through the tunnels which run underneath the town for 3 euros which is pretty cool if you like that sort of thing Smile

https://i959.photobucket.com/albums/ae74/Clearancelines/DSCF1225.jpg

So we spent 2 nights camping in Luxembourg then went to Germany spent 1 night there, we then thought we should head back closer to France as we were leaving on Saturday. So we spent Wednesday and Thursday night back in Belgium.

We dont really do anything exciting during the week, we just rode about found some semi nice roads and got drunk in the evening.

The plan was to book a b & b for Friday night in Dunquerque so we could get a nights sleep in a bed for the journey back to the UK on Saturday. When we get to Dunquerque we realise it is a shithole and instead of wasting 60 euros on a room we decide to ride up the road to Calais and jump on the ferry back home.

So for a trip that took about 10 minutes to plan it was good.

In hindsight I would have definately planned it, I kind of expected all the epic roads to just be everywhere but I quickly realised this was not the case. There were nice roads, but if you dont know where to look, you have to really ride round and round to find them. Which is a waste of time and petrol.

We done about 1500 miles in the 6 days.

Next time I would go for 2 weeks and head straight for the Alps - thats where the magic is Thumbs Up
