hi, I am new to this site and was just after a bit of help (hope this is right section)

well anyway to the problem, the bike (scooter) is a yamaha aerox 50cc and its accelrates slow to 40mph then kind of shoots off as daft as it sounds like a turbo kicking in, as said it takes about 20 seconds to do 30/40 but then shoots to top speed,

my initial thought was the exhaust was restricted (at this point i didnt know it went above 40) but when i had a go the bike pulled away above 40 up to around 60+, so my thoughts now are

rollers in variator fooked or
clutch springs

anyone have any help/advice/ideas would be great thanks,

DUBHEAD.

If it'll do 60mph then it is definitely not restricted! The most likely cause is worn/original rollers. However the only way to check them is by removing the variator. If they arnt worn you could try fitting some lighter rollers this will improve acceleration but you may loose some top speed.
