Found this on ebay which might be ok for anyone looking for a cheap sat nav, saw one on a bike I went to see and it seems pretty good.

That is not cheap. I got one last year for £40 off ebay. Bargain of the century. I swapped it for some weed though.

It's relatively cheap though, most other outdoor specific type satnavs can be £300+

Or if you already have one for a car, there are some waterproof cases with handlebar fittings Smile

'tis a nice looking piece of kit though A5tra_G

Cheapest bike specific I've seen, I know you can buy car kit and stick it in a tank bag, but for bike specific and buying a cheap bluetooth ear piece it aint bad.

Cheap satnav? maybe cheaper compared to the mainstream brands...

Being a cheapskate, i ve downloaded and installed the mobile version, on my phone, and i ve modified a car mount to accomodate the phone.

When the weather is overcast or chance of rain... a sandwich bag with zip closure... keep it dry!

So far ive got: Nokia 7610- TomTom Mobile (phone bought at car boot for 6 quid)
Panasonic X700- Route 66 (phone bought on ebay for spares repairs: faulty mic, for 3.50)
Nokia N95 8Gb- Garmin XT Mobile. (ex contract phone)

same mount on handlebars!

Nice looking. Normal price for a car so better price for a bike. But I rather spend the money on weed tbh. Wink Wink Karma

I just bought a Garmin Zumo 220 and ain't overly impressed. It was quite expensive and seems pretty archaic. I'd advise to buy a normal, £50-ish unit and get one of the waterproof covers I've often seen advertised on ebay, etc.

If you have an android phone just get a case for it and download Sygic, you get live traffic / weather / speed traps reported by the community.

Might as well take advantage of constant 3g if you have it.

A little more expensive and refurbed (new) but the TomTom definitely does all you need :

I recently bought the sat nav the op mentioned and got it today. It seems to be very good although not had a chance to test it yet, it gives you several different option for roads used in route planning:

Unpaved Roads
Motorways
Ferries
Cross-border Planning
Permit Needed
Per-use Toll
Period Charge

and 4 different route calculation methods, Easy, Economical, Short and Fast. It also has lots of POI's already saved and you can save your own, like speed cameras Laughing and has a speed warning option.

Overall it seem like it's worth the money, just need to try it out now Smile

I have had a few rides with it now and I'm very pleased with it. It's easy enough to set up routes once you get used to it and it automatically re-plans the route if you go off course. I have ridden with it in the rain as well and have had no problems with it.
