Ive been advised to get an old bike for first bike and this one looks pretty good. Any thing to look out for or ask about? or is it just too old?

It depends on whether or not you are going to be riding on a CBT license or a full one. If it's a full license then no problem, but if it's CBT then you are restricted to a 125. That bike looks quite nice though. Thumbs Up

NSR 250, mmm, don't like that colour scheme though.

Just make sure its been rebuilt regularly, run in correctly and quality 2-stroke oil has been used. Spares could be a real problem with that bike though.

Should be a fun bike though Smile

I don't think a nsr250 would make a good first bike. They are not very forgiving and the power delivery is not really suited to beginers.

However it is a very nice bike. I imagine they mostly get baught by people that have other (bigger) bikes and are used on the tracks.

Don't forget its a 17 year old 2 stroke and as the advert says it rare. So parts ain't going to be as easy to find they are for a uk bike or a popular import like the cbr or nc30 ( yes I know they made uk nc30's but most are imports ).

Something to bear in mind is that the NSR250 is known for having a far more progressive power delivery than the other sports 250 strokers. Personally I'd go for a later model as parts are more easily available for them, still rare though.

That would suggest they are wanting far more than a 'old bike for a first bike' would justify.
The point of getting an old bike is that it doesn't matter so much when you crash it, abuse it etc.
Because they are rare parts are going to be hard to find and I wouldn't be suprised if mechanics bills get bumped up etc, if you're not doing your own work on it.
