FZR600 Indicators - Flashing too fast

I’ve got an old 1990 FZR600 with a strange indicator problem. The right hand ones work fine but the left hand ones flash at double speed.

I’ve changed the flasher relay with a second hand one but they are still the same. The bike is all standard with normal sized indicators and the bulbs are all the same rating.

Anyone have any idea what could be wrong?

It could easily be a dodgy earth, especially on a bike of that vintage.

I'd go round the bike and clean up all of the earthing points.

Hi

I would be tempted to try swapping the bulbs out from one side to the other to double check.

Although not common, not unknown for bulbs to break and then short out internally which might change the resistance enough to affect the flash rate.

My 94 XJR 400 does exactly the same thing. Ive been living with it for months but will need to sort if before Feb for the MOT.

Interested to hear if you sorted it bud.
