Anyone know of any good (beginner) mountain bike routes in the area of Yorkshire or Humberside.
I have a new Boardman from the cycle2work scheme I want to get dirty.
I'd prefer scenic and enjoyable to start with. Also a relatively long route. I want to be out for a few hours.

Loads of websites but none I have found rate routes for scenery. Many routes are only a few miles long too.

Any suggestions will be welcomed and repaid with lovely blob filling karma.

I'd suggest just getting an appropriate OS map (or memory map for your phone) and marking out a reasonable length route and try it out.
Because I'm naughty, like; I tend to use footpaths too. No complaints so far as I tend to be sensible in regards to other people.

23 miles of Forestry goodness Wink
Some bits are scenic, some are just blasting through trees.
There are some other shorter trails too.
The trails are free, entrance to the forest drive however, isn't...
I think it's about £8 per car, but I haven't been up for a while.

Thank you very much Sir. I will check that out for sure.

Today we ended up at Kilnsea on the east coast. We rode to the end of Spurn Point and back. About 12 miles in total including a couple of detours.

Only thing spoiling the ride was too many cars on the single track road along Spurn Point. Was forever having to jump into hedgerow to get out of the way.
