Hi ive just got my rotax 123 engine back after having a full rebuild, full new clutch aswell, and noticed that my woodruff key is missing, i dont know if it wasnt there before or if they guy who rebuilt it has lost it, is it a must to have the woodruff key to run the engine?

You need one. Let's put it like this. If you didn't need one then it wouldn't have a slot for one.
Try ringing him and insinuating that it was sent with it and now it's without. He may supply one.
