I'm in need of some cheap headphones that are small enough to fit inside my helmet. I have a few pairs of decent headphones but they almost rip my ears off when I want to take my helmet on/off, and are really uncomfortable when it's on. I'm looking for some really cheap ones, below £10, and noise isolation would be a bonus.

Thanks Thumbs Up

Sennheiser CX something or others (300's?) is what we have here

Good at blocking outside noise, comfy , good sound quality

Looking on eBay ther prices seem to have come down to 1p under your self imposed price limit, so thats my vote cast

Downside is that we have found the cable to be quite stiff and does induce some noise when the cable "rubs" or "flaps" about when walking, not noticed this when worn under a helmet and cable tucked under a buff/neck warmer

Regards
Rob

CX300s work well for me, but beware of fakes. I'd buy from Amazon or similar (and actually from Amazon, not a trader on there) myself.

Yup, cx300 II's are a safe bet. Mine are still going strong after a year of daily use.

The CX300s are good for close to your budget. As above, be wary of ebay, especially wary if they're less than a tenner. There are lots of fakes about.

However, I have found that they can fall out very easily, especially if a cable snags when you move your head. And it's a big pain to stop and take everything off to put it right.

The CX800 series is a big step up in sound quality and come with a fair few 'buds' so you can find and use the ones that fit your ears best and stay in best. The 'stalk' holds them more firmly in position with a helmet on and I've had no issue with it snagging when removing various helmets. Was out all day today with music throughout and never had to take my helmet off to reposition either earphone. I'd have had to several times over with the 300. Well worth the extra, especially at the Amazon discounted price.

Do these look any good? I'm not sure whether they're fake or not. I'm thinking not because they have over 300 reviews.

Is there anything similar (and preferably cheapish too) with an inline remote for iPhones? Apple headphones are shite and I'd like to ditch mine ASAP for something I could also use on the bike.

I was looking for some headphones earlier in the week for under £10 but to no avail so decided stay with these only £4 dearer.

Will add that I ordered them on friday night and were delivered this morning as well.

Even wore them under the helmet and never noticed Embarassed
(was wondering why traffic sounded like photographs by nickelback)

Could you not get an inline remote extension sort of thing - had this for my Touch Pro II which I used on the bike.

The CX880 variant of the headphone I linked earlier has an inline volume control.

On that link - can any confirm if you should be able trust 'Fulfilled by Amazon', or it may be fake?

What does Fulfilled by Amazon mean?

Fulfilled By Amazon (usually referred to as FBA) items are generally sold by third-party sellers but stored in an Amazon Fulfilment Centre and sent to you from there. Items which are sold by Warehouse Deals are also labeled Fulfilled by Amazon. Warehouse Deals is a trading name for Amazon EU Sarl, and is part of the Amazon.com group.

All of our standard delivery rates and policies apply to these items, including FREE Super Saver Delivery on eligible items.

Whether that means that Amazon vet the goods and give their endorsement to their genuine status, I don't know. I suspect not as it seems their goal is to guarantee the sale and delivery, not the product.

However, I wouldn't expect that the less popular, more premium (and complex) models are commonly counterfeited, and I'd be surprised if they cropped up on Amazon. The heavy discount is a concern, but not unusual from direct sellers when Sennheiser decide to shift stock.

They're fake, mate. I had the real version and they are all about 40 smackers upwards. They were the best set of headphones I ever had actually!

You can't go wrong with AKG, very good makers of headphones. I had a pair of the CX300 II a couple of months ago, but they kept falling loose and really annoying me. Real pain in the ass, so I gave 'em to my brother. So then I bought some Philips headphones, yellow with the loop for around the ear. They stayed in better, but hurt like hell and left me with a numb ear that hurt when I touched it for ages. I'm now using Sennheiser which also loops. but the loops is moulded so you can bend it anyway you like to fit around your ear. Can't find the model name on 'em unfortunately!

What's the legality of wearing headphones?* I'd like a set with an inline volume control but always thought it'd be a grey area wearing them.

What's the legality with being deaf?

Some might frown on it, but it's entirely legal.

Obviously its not definite and they may well be real. But I bought a fake pair of cx300's off the bay and they look identical to the real ones. And if you've never had in ear headphones before, you'll think the sound quality is amazing, even if they are fake!

Those of you who are recommending Sennheiser CX 300 II's in this thread, are you talking about the cheaper (possibly fake) ones from Amazon or the more expensive (possibly real) ones from elsewhere?

I can buy these for £15 from Amazon or buy these from Argos for £30, but being from Argos I would assume they're the real deal.

These from Amazon will be real as they are sold by Amazon, but same as Argos price.
Last time I got some, I got official 'eco' packaging CX300 IIs sold by Amazon for £15, but sadly prices have gone up a chunk in the last six months it seems.

I got those for about £20 at HMV a couple of months ago. Argos is usually more expensive than internet prices, so at £15, I'd say legit. That being said, when buying from Amazon, make sure it's Amazon selling it, and not some random seller.
