Hi,
I had a quick question about licence points. I've had my car licence for 10 years, unfortunatly I have 3 points on it Sad. I have just passed my direct access and I heard something about i'm only allowed 6 points on a new licence. Is this classed as a new licence even though I've held the car licence for 10 years? I dont want to risk getting banned from driving by getting another 3 points on my bike licence!
Thanks
Lee

I believe the 6 point rule only counts on your first full licence.

It's the same license, with an added entitlement. You won't lose it for gaining 6 points. I'm pretty sure it's new riders/drivers.

On your first entitlement only so nothing to worry about.

Hi

On the gov site:-

https://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Motoring/LearnerAndNewDrivers/NewlyQualifiedDrivers/DG_4022566

Quote:
If you have held a full driving licence for two years, the Act doesn’t apply. For example, there isn’t another probation period if you already have a full car licence and pass a test in another category, like lorry. But you need to have passed both tests in one of the countries listed above.

All the best

Keith
