Hi guys,

Anybody had any problems fitting a PC3 USB to their bike/ street triple?

I bought a secondhand PC3 a while ago but was waiting until the winter clean before fitting as taking the tank off is a pain in the hoop!! But anyway I have fitted it and now that its fitted I'm having problems getting the bike to start. The fuel pump primes then when I hit the start button nothing, just a click and then the fuel pump re primes. Anyone got any suggestions? I followed the fitting instructions to the line.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Steve

Why fit a PC3? The Triumph uses the OBD11 progrmming system, get a cheap lead off E-Bay and load a free program called ECUtune onto your laptop. Then you can play to your hearts content or use the programs already written for yours. It gives you full diagnostics as well as the ability to fine tune your ECU.

I cant recomend this highly enough. I am geussing that Triumph give up on older models and dont update the ECU programe any more. Whatever, this little gadget has freshened up a number of Triumphs I've had through the workshop, even those that have been back to the main dealers a number of times.

Have you reconnected everyone properly?

Do you know if the PCIII even works?

As said Triumph ECU's are easily tunable anyway so the PCIII's not really worth it on them.

This.

The PCIII Has half the number of samples in a single fuel map. With the Street Triple a map applied directly to the ECU is always going to be better than fooling it with a PCIII. The PCIII is good for ECU's that can't be modified, but its not a patch on adapting the map in the original ECU.

And I thought I was the only one who was going to bang on about TuneECU.

My Thread about it, essentially what you have done there is bought something worth £300 when you could have bought a cable and downloaded some free software for something that is better in every way. More customisation and you don't have to have a brick in your bike.

If you did want to put the PC3 on, first make sure it has the standard map on it. Then make sure it is connected right, I connected my TDM one up wrong because the 'Instructions' where 2 wank black and white photos. Any company that thinks it is acceptable to deal with anything electrical in black and white needs a kick to the face.

The only reason I went for the PC3 was because it was plug and play but will now go down the tune ECU route. Is it easy enough to do? I do have acess to a cable. I'll get rid of the PC

Sounds like a low battery to me, have you checked this first?

Be aware that the Triumph ECU's have a low voltage starter cutout built in, if the battery voltage is a bit low then it won't allow the starter to turn, the relay just clicks (which is the clicking that you're hearing).

Get the battery on charged and try again. If that doesn't do it, disconnect the PC and see if you've done something else while fitting it.

[edit]Reg/recs have been on problem on the Striples, once it's running check your charging rate. If it's low then go and see your local dealer about getting the reg/rec replaced under warranty, even if the bike is out of warranty Triumph will usually replace them out of goodwill.
