Need some help here chaps.
The Loz needs a new coat but we are struggling to find anything that fits the bill. Loz uses her bike everyday regardless of the weather or if the local rivers are in flood so ideally wants a 3/4 length Gore tex or equivalent but we can't seem to find a single thing. Anyone suggest any places or brands to look at?

Maybe you could consider opening up other possiblities and look at alternatives to Gore tex.

My missus used to have a very expensive Gore tex jacket, but it quickly became what I can only describe as 'un-waterproof'.
My daughter had an american jacket made from Hi Vent. It was amazing and stayed waterproof.

Take a look at this webpage with views on Gortex.

Ever tried sitting on a bike in a jacket that's too long for you? It doesn't work unless you can unzip it from the bottom, otherwise you have to pull it all up a bit and its generally a pain in the arse.

I had a very nice Dainese scooter coat that I had to get rid of when I started riding proper bikes cos it was too long for the different seating position.

FWIW, I've never found mens textiles to be a problem as they don't tend to fit as closely as leathers and you've usually got more stuff on underneath (cos its cold). The HG Tuareg I'm using at the mo (which is actually G's but he ain't getting it back until summer Razz) is decently waterproof and really warm.

They are actually too short and cut tight on the hip.

I've recently splashed out on one of the Rukka goretex jackets, and very wonderful they are too. And I find them a good length (6ft lass). The handy little crotch strap stops it riding up. Technically I suppose it's a mens jacket, but it does the job.

Damn expensive, though...

Hi Sickpup,

One of my local bike places does a 3/4 length textile jacket but it is styled like a casual coat with buttons and a hood. If the coat styling isn't an issue then I have no problem popping in and seeing whether or not it is gore-tex.

If I remember correctly you are London based too so if the jacket is gore-tex it won't be too far for you to come and check it out yourself.

Drop me a PM if you would like me to pop in there and check it out.
