Track Day on a 125

Hey, has anyone done a trackday on a 125?? just wondering as i would like to try it,

While not on a 125, a friend did go to Snetterton on his MZ racer. It's a 250, but with about 25hp, so similar to a modern 125.

It was Snetterton, so he went in the novice group, but I'm sure he easily kept his own in the corners at least Smile

.

Go to a smaller/twistier track and you should be fine in the novices. People will get you on the straights, but then unless you're on a zx10 that's likely to happen anyway Smile

. Providing there aren't any really fast corners (ie faster than your bike can go) you should be fine in the corners.

If you're a reasonably confident rider you may even be able to get past some of the people that took you on the straights Smile

IRC folk suggested I should do one on my NSR.

I agreed, it would be amusing to overtake people on corners on a 125 with L plates Laughing

The only problem some of you may have doing track days is that I think you need a full licence on most if not all of them.

G should be able to tell you more on the subject.

apparently you only need a licence appropriate to the bike you will be riding. So a learner licence is fine if you're riding a bike restricted to 15hp.

In the same way if you are restricted to 33hp, you shouldn't ride a more powerful bike on track. In either case, it's unlikely they will check for restrictors etc as it's far to much hassle.

They do this for insurance reasons I believe, so they have some proof that the rider is capable of riding the bike they will be ragging around the track.

Check with the trackday organiser first. I'm pretty sure 100% bikes will let you out with a provisional at least. I'm not sure about others.

However you could just mention it to the company before you book, I'm sure they'll be able to help you out.
