I find it really difficult to ride without music now and realised today just how much it affects my riding style. So I was wondering, what songs cause you to drive a little recklessly and what songs make you test standard again? For me:

Bad Influences

Downfall - Children of Bodom
Scatta - Skrillex
Scream Aim Fire - BFMV

Good Influences

Blue Jeans - Lana Del Rey
Paradise - Cold Play
A Bad Dream - Keane

Think I need to add a few 'calmer' songs to my iPod which is why I ask.

Prodigy - Firestarter..... It got expensive in my old 328I, those rear tyres werent cheap Twisted Evil

Most Prodigy tracks have a simmiler effect to be fair Thumbs Up

Megadeth, Black label society, godsmack, system of a down, guns n roses, metallica, ozzy/sabbath, CKY, slayer, slipknot etc etc are all very bad for my riding style.

I find infected mushroom makes me ride a lot smoother and faster though, the above bands all make me just hammer the throttle open and throw the bike into corners, psytrance makes me roll on smoothly through corners, holding one gear through twisties instead of dancing up and down the gearbox like a madman.

Cheers
John

I find faster music our heavier music keeps me calmer but faster but safe slow our calm easy music often allows me time to get annoyed at car drivers there as resulting in mad dangerous over taking and driving.

Bad Influences
Motorhead (ace of spades, iron fist etc)
Judas Priest (screaming for vengeance)
Anthrax (caught in a mosh, gung ho and strap it on)
Sepultura
Prodigy
The Killers ( I can remember the words to a few songs of sam's town album perfectly and turns riding the bike into karaoke, get plenty of strange looks riding through the streets to uni singing 'this river is wild' and focus more on singing than traffic in front Rolling Eyes )

Basically anything heavy/fast or that I know the lyrics to Razz

Good Influences
Steppenwolf (magic carpet ride)
Steve Miller Band
Pink Floyd (another brick in the wall, run like hell)
The Cult (she sells sanctuary)
Hawkwind
Van Halen

^All chill me right out

I don't listen to music when riding but the one that affects me is when you pull up next to the peugeot full of yoofs with baseball caps on back to front and they have that generic boom boom shit on, it makes me want to punch them and ride off very fast.

Not really tried riding with music apart from when I rode the bike back from the shop yesterday and not sure how it affected me that song was Photographs - Nickelback Cool .

However I think it will be the calmer artists that could make my riding better something like the following just to list a few;

Buddy Holly
David Alexander ( Embarassed )
Drifters
Frank Sinatra
Gary Jules
Marc Cohn
Razorlight
Roger Whitaker

OR try the rock music

ACDC
Meatloaf
Ramstein
Slipknot
Stone sour
Theory of a deadman

The music similar to AC/DC and Airbourne is a real bad influence for me - real bad. But thankfully only riding a 125 doesn't give me the power to do as many stupid things Wink

I often find that bands like Every Avenue and Mayday Parade can help keep my riding up, feels like it makes me concentrate more and I have a great time singing along in the helmet! Laughing

I get rather throttle happy at the sound of anything trance, hardcore, dance or anything along those lines basically.

Deadmau5
Prodigy
Sash
Warrior
Oceanlab

All alter my riding style although metal does the opposite and calms me for some reason. I had my first NIP through in 4.5 years of driving on Saturday and I seem to remember listening to trance when it happened Embarassed .

I have a list of banned songs that I either skip or have deleted from my phone because they either make me ride waaay to fast for urban riding or make me ride like a tit:

Supersonic - Bad Religion (fast)
Bad Habit - Offspring (tit)
Kickstart my Heart - Motley Crue (fast)
Pure Hatred - Chimaira (tit)
So I Quit - Filter (tit)
Happy Ride - Mad Capsule Markets (fast)

And by far the worst offender: The Chain - Fleetwood Mac. A nice mellow song, but about two-thirds of the way through it switches to the old F1 theme. As soon as the bass starts, the throttle opens and all of a sudden I realise I'm doing 70 in a 40 Shocked

Other than the above, anything I listen to doesn't really affect my riding too much aside from podcasts. I usually end up laughing while I'm listening which can lead to some very odd looks at traffic lights Very Happy

Anything with a quick beat will more or less make me ride faster and more agressively.

The likes of The Prodigy or in paticular Atari Teenage Riot - Speed.

I think I should stick to snow patrol!

My ipod has metal... thats pretty much it.

I ride fairly sedated anyway...but if I find a good song, I shift down a few gears, press the back button and have a go until the song ends Laughing

I found Skindred got me to work quicker this morning.

Bad influences on my riding:

- Emarosa
- Devil Wears Prada
- Drop Dead, Gorgeous
- Skindred
- BMTH,

anything remotely quick and/or heavy, I guess.

Recent good influences on my riding:

- Kings of Convenience
- Newton Faulkner
- The Police

I knew it was a bad idea, what i didnt know was that they had just 'resurfaced' my favourite bit of twisties and not laid any signs out.

By resurfaced i mean covered in gravel and left, que me coming into a tightening downhill left at 8k rpm in second, decked over with the pegs scraping only to find the road was now gravel.

Fuck knows how i kept it upright, more luck than skill i imagine, made a mess of the council 'resurfacing' though, and my trousers. Laughing

Cheers
