Hmm, quite a lot of money for a gimmick. Quite cool though.

Measuring the acceleration and braking is quite cool. It doesn't say whether it records your maximum readings, I would assume it does, because let's face it, you don't want to be looking at it when you're fully committed at max lean.

pretty expensive tat really. most smart phones can do that sort of thing with an app anyway. plus you know if you're de/accelerating turning hard anyway without it.

If it does only record the last 25 corners they're missing a trick as otherwise it would have some interest as a cheap datalogger for track riding.

There is an app for the iphone called iLean that does the same thing. There is even a free version available.

yes i can use it. If you know some, tell me, if not just admit you think there are some available but don't actually know.

Trawling through all the things on android market that sound like they might measure lean and g force, is gonna be a pain but if you know some, you can save me the trouble.

I deleted them off my phone because of the Desires crap onboard memory (this is before apps2sd) so I don't know the exact names. I do remember there being loads. Just search g force on the market.

Yes, the Leanometer will do a lot more than the free (or not) phone apps. These work by using gps to work out lean angle but they don't measure the forces as generated by the bike and rider.

The Leanometer displays both true lean angle AND frame angle and having both is useful for improving riding technique or just discovering what you're doing during cornering.

The free apps show estimated lean angle and the (generally very expensive) racing lean angle loggers show frame angle. The Leanometer is the only one that logs and displays BOTH and also stores your braking into the corner and acceleration out of it on an easy to read display (not in your pocket like a phone app).

For every trip, your maximum lean angle is recorded and also your maximum for all journeys is recorded also.

To be fair, they made it pretty clear they were associated with the product.

But yes, this lack of knowledge of rivals products is a rather concerning when considering basic research and development expected before even a prototype would have been made.

BTW leanometer can not possibly display "true" lean angle either. How the hell can it know the angle of the road? Triple facepalm mate. Sorry.

We are just trying to answer the obvious questions about the Leanometer as most don't realise what it does and why it's different and better at the job of lean angle display than any phone app.

All phones these days have the ability to measure angles of stationary objects very accurately (no doubt even the Lidl ones). This isn't how they do moving bike lean angle measurements though (they use gps and work out average lean angles by knowing your speed and change of direction).
The Leanometer measures bike movement changes with much greater precision than any phone (regardless of what it costs).

True and Frame lean angle is measured from the vertical. They both need to be displayed and logged togther to be useful to your riding (you can see how much body movement is influencing frame lean, etc).

We like to think after considerable work and testing this thing that we're not "full of shite" but that's a matter of opinion. Perhaps try one and see how well it works before damning it (yes, we are trying to sell it of course but we wouldn't bother if it wasn't already proven and tested properly).

Lets assume you're travelling in a straight line and the gps reports your position (in a phone app for example). You turn through 90 degrees and start going straight again. The phone knows your new position and how long it has taken to get from A to B from the gps data. Your speed is known (again from gps) and the phone now also knows your turn radius (it has to assume a simple smooth turn and turns aren't always like this of course).
The phone app uses an equation to give you an average lean angle.

The Leanometer gives you True Lean AND Frame Lean and does it by actually measuring the bikes own forces (you can't get nearer to the action than that). Because of the way Leanometer displays the lean information it's easy for the rider to see how his riding style affects the quality of his cornering (and improve it).
