right, i have a Honda NS125RK

my dad has told me,that using a

API TC ,JASO FB rated oil is fine

Ive been running it on castrol power 1 £13 a bottle stuff, since switching to the cheaper more basic FB (£6 a bottle) the bike seems to run better for someone strange reason. its easier to start, runs slightly cooler and smokes less?????
is this because it was designed to run on the quality of oils in the 80/90's?

i know these newer 'racing' 2T oils have all kinds of fancy additives

any ideas anyone.

All these letters (ap, fb ??) and "special" oils for two-smokes?

Will you really get that much of a gain by using the latest whizzy-super-oils?

I ran all my GT`s= x5, CZ 125, CZ 250 crosser, A100`s= x2, Bultaco 250, Suzuki PE 250, RD 250lc all on the cheapest two-stroke oil I could get due to lack off funds.
They all survived and were runners when I sold them.
I just made sure it was "two-stroke" oil and I did`nt run them dry.

I use the Castrol Power stuff. I found it works a lot better than the oil that was in the bike when I bought it. It does smoke a lot less too.

castrol power 1 is good stuff, used to be called r2 race bike oil, its the best smelling oil (imo)
tts is good oil too
motul 710 is also good, a bit more expensive though
i wouldnt run any of that cheaper stuff, most of it is part synthetic, or even worse mineral oil, and would increase wear.
another thing i learned the hard way is to make sure the oil is suitable for injector, some oils designed for premix are too thin for injector type mix

Just had to buy some more oil for the tzr250 today. I always use TTS but halfrauds seem to only stock the power stuff now so i went for the fully synth racing one at £13 a litre. I never skimp on the 2T oil.

yeah on any modern liquid cooled 2stroke i would always use a fully synth oil, especially if it's a nice bike and you look after it maintainence and servicing wise.

All i'd say is that it's far cheaper to buy Fully synth 2T oil in larger 5-10ltr quantites than paying up to £10-15 per litre bottle.

my dad's m8 who has an rg250 and a rd400 recommended this stuff, says he swears by it and wouldn't use anything else...

https://www.alexoil.co.uk/pro-2-stroke-engine-oil--5l_p303.aspx

£26inc p&p for 5litres!

works at out at £5.20 a litre,for semi-synth!

bought a tub Mr. Green

ISO-GD rated and JASO FC rated, is equivalent to JASO FC/FD, so its a top quality oil, that's clean burning and wont clogg up your exhuast system.[/url]

they also do a 20litre tub for £60 inc p&p
which works out at £3 a litre! for the same oil.
