I was flicking through my old photos and thought I'd make a little journal of my bikes so I at least have it blogged somewhere, even if the likes of BCF don't find it interesting Razz

My first set of wheels at 16 was a Pug Speedfight 50cc, I paid £400 for it and within 2months of riding I had already spent another £450 repairing it as it was constantly breaking down (typical moped).

Even though it was a massive ball ache it taught me a lot about the road, and also proved to be a lot of fun!

Getting closer towards the age of 17 (125cc time!) I began to search the local area for a bike, I knew I wanted either a CBR 125, a CG 125 or an XR125. Fortunately my friend had one for sale so I snapped it up quick sharp, it sat in the garden for a month or two before I was legal to ride it.

I took it out at midnight before my birthday, was a bit shitty with the gears but soon got the hang of it and loved the extra speed and comfort.

https://i206.photobucket.com/albums/bb106/timmyboynorwich/XR2.jpg

At 17 and a half I decided I wanted to do my motorcycle test so I did, I used the XR for my test and passed first time... Hell yeah!

I told myself I wouldn't rush into buying a bigger bike but that didn't last long, I began to search eBay and AutoTrader and a GPZ 500 came up nearby, it was a 97 with a mere 11k on the clock.

https://i206.photobucket.com/albums/bb106/timmyboynorwich/GPZ1.jpg

I gave it a good service and got it restricted to 33bhp, which at the time was more than enough to satisfy me, the speed difference felt phenomenal.

https://i206.photobucket.com/albums/bb106/timmyboynorwich/GPZ2.jpg

I rode the GPZ (like all my other bikes) through the winter, and this really didn't do it any favours, multiple things went wrong and I spent a fair amount of money getting it fixed.

I decided enough was enough and wanted something quicker and more reliable.

I had about 6months left on my restricted liscence so had to take this into account when deciding what to buy. I saw a nice Hornet 600 at my local Honda dealer and decided to go for it, I paid a premium price but they restricted it, threw in a paddock stand and gave it a comprehensive service ontop of a 3month warranty so that all twisted my finger somewhat.

I owned this bike for a while and had it unrestricted when the time came, it was much better and natrally felt a lot smoother. The time came when I got fed up with winter riding and freezing my nuts off everyday on the commute.

I decided to sell the Hornet and buy a half decent bike and a half decent car.

My friend bought the Hornet off me and part-ex'd his ER-5 so I had a car, and a bike to use for whenever the sun came out.

https://i206.photobucket.com/albums/bb106/timmyboynorwich/ER-51.jpg

This obviously didn't really compare to the Hornet and as a result I soon became bored of it.

https://i206.photobucket.com/albums/bb106/timmyboynorwich/ER-52.jpg

So come spring I decided to buy a nicer bike once again, a local dealer had a low mileage Hornet for sale, I've always had a soft spot for them so decided to take the plunge, I thought how often do you come across a 12 year old bike with 3200 miles on the clock.

https://i206.photobucket.com/albums/bb106/timmyboynorwich/Hornet22.jpg

I'd finished college by summer and no longer needed a bike for commuting either, so sold the bike and bought a nice car. A few months later (the present day) I began full time work and thus could afford to comfortably run a car and bike.

Que the third Hornet!

Only black to go now and I'll of had all the colours.

Thanks for reading my story, I've tried to make it fairly short and sweet.

Hahaha..

It's true what the guys on the hornet's nest say then..

Apparently most hornet owners that sell up usually get the bug and come crawling back lol
