Saw you could travel on a driving licence... and was curious Laughing

Check some flights and they all come up like £100 returns etc... but aer lingus are like... £0.00 but you have £46 tax and charges...still cheaper. Laughing

So, has anyone travelled here on just a driving licence? Tempted to bugger off for a long weekend.

As far as I know you can get into most EU countries with a driver's licence (as long as they are in the Shenzen agreement - or whatever you call it).

Been to Ireland once. Went with Ryanair for £1 and £1 return (cant remember the taxes and charges).

Did it loads of times between 2005 and 2008, flying from either leeds or doncaster to dublin with just the photocard part of my licence, but last time I checked the flights on ryanair they listed a passport as the only ID accepted.

The ferry is no probs with just a drivers licence, and once when I lost my wallet over there, I managed to get back into england with absolutely no proof of ID whatsoever (typical that it was the first and only time I've been stop/checked by customs!).

It definitely used to be allowed, and I dare say it's just twatface o'leary being a prick as usual if ryanair has indeed stopped travel on drivers licences. Best bet is to call the customer services.

Isn;t Belfast part of the UK though ? Isn't it the same as going to Scotland or Wales, i.e. no border control... Genuine question, I've never been...

I wouldnt worry about it - it's Ireland.... As long as it is upside down forks you should be fine.
